2006 have been moving and inspiring for the group!
The ball gathered speed at Cafe Asia I in March 2006! The World Cafe first came to Singapore in 2000 and pockets of groups have been trying it. At Cafe Asia I, a tidy group including Devare from India and Chaiwat from Thailand inspired us with stories of running World Cafe as part of resolving the political turmoils they were going through then.
In May, Cafe Asia II led by Alan Stewart of HK, Manish of India, Samantha Douglas & myself convened in Bali and we led a world cafe event (http://www.lopn.net/ST_Casestudy10_IndigenousvsGlobalizatgion.html) on the theme "Livability".
Groups of youths led by Binsar and Huda of Indonesia on seeing Cafe Asia II, did a world cafe among youths of Asia Pacific on "Corruption". This has now spawned an international network that is 'working it systemically': http://groups.yahoo.com/group/anticorruptionnetwork/
At the same time, JP Chi of Taiwan led cafes with youths and the monasteries of Taiwan. Both Chinese and Japanese editions of the book "Conversations that Matter" are out now!
Alan Stewart of Hong Kong leads World Cafe events in corporate worlds of India and HK with Arun Wakhlu. These led over time with pracitioners from India visiting Singapore and learning from each others' experiences.
I truly do believe the spirit of collobartion is only waiting to be unbridled in Asia in 2007!
Introduce yourself at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cafeasia/database?method=reportRows&tbl=1 and as we say, the rest becomes history!
Warmly,
From Stewards of Asia
Sheila (SIN), Doug (SIN), JP (TW), Alan (HK)
