The 2008 election proved to many Californians that NOW is the time for serious reform of the initiative process. Join with like-minded activists and form a statewide watchdog alliance that will monitor the Secretary of State's website and send blast alerts whenever new measures appear. We will be analysing them as they are hatched, blogging our thoughts on them, and contacting local media (both mainstream and alternative). We will also create information networks linking to our existing organizations and help everyone become more initiative-literate. There are many identified problems and many of the solutions will have to come from the state legislature, because the initiative process is part of our state constitution. We will need strong advocates who will be able to lobby our positions to their state legislators and bring them on-board. Remember, a small group of committed individuals can change the world.
