The British Yugoslav Medical Association (BYMA) aims to contribute to efforts to advance provision of health care, of medical training and medical science in Yugoslavia. It strives to assist with the establishment of links between institutions in the UK and Yugoslavia and offers its advisory services to any agencies or institutions which may wish to help Yugoslavia to rebuild its medical schools, specialist training programmes, and health service in general. The ultimate goal of the BYMA is to help with efforts to close the gap between medical practice in Yugoslavia and the rest of Europe that has resulted from ten years of civil wars, all in the hope that this will help reintegrate Yugoslavia as a fully democratic country in the heart of Europe.
