The annual GRYC vs SLYC will take place on Reeds
Lake on Wednesday August 2. This regatta is one that
all the GRYC AND SLYC sailors look forward to. Lets
hope for some great wind and good luck sailors. By the
way great job GRYC at Lake Forest. Taking 1st, 2nd,
and 4th on boats you do not sail and against kids
16yo-19yo against our 13yo-15yo is very impressive. Great
job!!

Hi -

I've created a flyer in Microsoft

coming up, please consider obtaining a copy, printing it

Here's mroe news from one of the top butterfly
sailors, Bruce Faust:

--------

It was great
for me and Joe Rotunda. We won!!!

Juniors
sailed separate, thank goodness. There were about 50
something
boats, 34 in the senior division and 26? in
the Juniors.

The wind was around 10 mph
and faded down to 5-7 by the last race. The 5th
race was cancelled because of no consistent win. Joey
won all his races and
in our fleet a differnent
person won each race.
Here's a quick note from Sandy in Dallas, who
attended this year's Single Handed Nationals in Lake
Lottawana:

Note the results here are UNOFFICIAL. Keep your eyes
peeled to http://www.butterflyer.org for the official
results.

-----------

They put on a great regatta. I vote for
having it
there every year.

Bruce Faust won, Mike (?)
Cantrell second, Jim Young third, and Bob
Beigler
fourth. Bruce and Bob are both from Dallas. I finished 7
or 8
in the 3rd race but either DNF or DNS in two
races looking after my son
who was sailing in his
first regatta. It was great to watch him make
it
around a course for the first time and beat a few boats.
I capsized in
the 2d race when the main sheet
somehow got knotted on my lifejacket.
After righting
her I still caught up with a few boats and
finished.

I would like to see the results posted. They seemed
to have everything
computerized so I suspect Jim
Young will post the results on the
Butterflyer site
when he gets back home.

Sorry you could

We're on track in Grand Rapids, Michigan for
another great summer of sailing lessons. There will be
two sessions for juniors (ages 9-16), 4 weeks each.
For adults, one series of weekly sessions. Contact me
at mjiams@... if you want more info!
Well loved butterfly - built in mid/late 80's.
Stored for several/many years, we've sailed it the last
3 summers. My son finished 5th in nationals in it,
one year. Contact me at mjiams@... if you're
interested.
Hi!

I managed to get out and sail Friday
afternoon, after months of Michigan winter. The wind was
moderate, and the air warm. Beautiful day for
sailing.

My daughters are 3 and 5, and love holding on to the

Lake Macatawa, in Holland Michigan. Lake Macatawa is a
good size lake, connected to Lake Michigan. Check out
this image, we are that little lake next to the 42
degree 45' mark on the east
side.
<a
