Transportation causes 55% of greenhouse gases in some Bay Area communities. Automotive
brake liner, tire dust, and other transportation-related toxic effluents are the major contributors
to poisoning the fish in the Bay. Children living within 500 feet of a major roadway have
permanent lung damage. The top cause of mortality for children between 5 and 19 is traffic
crashes.
o Come discuss strategies to parking, congestion pricing, traffic demand management,
reducing car travel and using trains, buses and bicycles to commute and where in the
process your City Council, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority fit into
advocacy.
o Discover how your advocacy can affect decisions by City Council, VTA and MTC.
o This workshop will help you work with the Loma Prieta Chapter Transportation
Committee and advocate in front of City Councils and similar bodies for better
transportation policies.
Workshop is free!
