This discussion list is intended to be a medium for everyone who would like to learn Bulgarian or speak Bulgarian as a second language. Native speakers who are interested in language teaching/learning related matters or would like to volunteer to help are also encouraged to join in the discussions.

We at present have no official policy concerning Cyrillic encodings. Unicode is probably the best philosophically. KOI8-R is probably the easiest for Windows users to use, as it seems to be the default when you select Bulgarian under XP language support. There is also Windows-1251. If you get gibberish, try changing your browser/email character encoding to see if a different scheme decodes the message.
