The day after I posted my 'heads up' it went to 40% off.
As there are 7 copies still for sale, plus the fact that the shop's staying open until Christmas, I'm holding out for a better offer.
Is anyone actually interested in obtaining a copy?
If not, I'll stop posting.
Richard

For what it's worth, there's a bookshop in Victoria Street, London ['Books etc', part of the Borders chain] that's closing down. They're currently selling 7 copies of the autobiography, in paperback, at 30% off. The face value of the book is £9.99...you do the maths.

Personally, I'm holding out until nearer the end as their percentages are increasing as the final day looms...although I don't know when that is.

I'll update you if their price gets to be too good to miss. I'll even buy a copy for anyone who wants one. Although, Amazon are probably offering the book at a better price...but their postage might swing it in favour of the over-the-counter purchase.

I'll keep a watching brief.

Copies of The Unfortunates are fairly common in the big London bookshops like Foyles. I think it got a reprint in the last few years, it came out from a US publisher anyway.

Is there any interest in Alan Burns' novels, or any chance The Angry Brigade could get reprinted?

For one wild moment, I thought you meant they were selling copies of Aren't You Rather Young To Be Writing Your Memoirs? for a tenner apiece. It's nice that you can get Christie and the omnibus, and even the Picador version of the Unfortunates if you look carefully, but if only somebody would reprint the lot!

Did anybody go to the conference in October? Was it good? Torment me! I was planning to go, but the price of train tickets to London was too great for my secretary's salary. Someone has to keep the records. You may even be thanked, in time...

I was hoping to go also, but not able to arrange time away. For BSJ and also some of the other possible topics that might have been covered in relation to a project I’m working on. I’d be interested in knowing if any of the papers were published in any way?

Hello,

I'm planning to attend now that I've heard about it.

This group is not exactly an Early Warning System, is it, given that
the conference must have been announced last year?

Thank you SP for mentioning it.

They appear regularly at the ICA: I missed this one, but they did a BSJ complete season a few years ago. It might be worth seeing if BFI or an enterprising company [second Run?] would release a BSJ video set.

I was rather frustrated at not being able to attend the ICAs
experimental film programme on Friday (23rd Nov) which boasted works
by Johnson.

Does anyone know any other way to get to see examples of his film & tv
work?

My interest has been considerably piqued by descriptions
in the Coe biography.

Regards,
Tom Weston

Don't know if anyone lives near BFI Southbank (formerly the NFT), but
it looks like 'You're Human Like The Rest of Them' is showing there
this evening:

Programme starts at 8.40.
