This list is designed for the discussion of topics relating to the study of British Regiments (including those of the Indian Army and Royal Marines). Questions about a unit's history, movements, heritage, practices and regalia are most welcome and encouraged.

Britregiments is not a genealogical reference site. The list does not have or maintain any personnel records relating to individual members of the British Army. Therefore, the Britregiments list members cannot supply answers to specifically named family heritage requests. Genealogists are welcome, however genealogy is not. Those persons seeking specific information based solely on Birth, Marriage and Death records should visit the Rootsweb (http://www.rootsweb.com) site, which is better equipped to handle this type of enquiry.

A separate post will be sent to every prospective list-member describing the required Rules and Standards of membership. In addition, simple guidelines will be made available with instructions on how to access military records at the PRO in Kew, England.
