Paul (Dirtball) and Ed welcome you to the Briggs and Stratton Engine Club. There are lots of old cast iron Briggs and Stratton engines powering machines that continue to purr along, happily performing their intended duties, not to mention the thousands of aluminum engines in use in today's push mowers, riding mowers and tractors, edgers, snow blowers, and pressure washers.

Lonnie, I only have a partial answer - The wire with the ring terminal should be coming from the points/condensor and when grounded will kill the ignition. I
