yeah, but Imperial doesn't show those ribs like that. I don't have one in
person, but the photos in my books don't show that. The Large Racehorse shows
some ribs (altho not as pronounced as on the one on ebay), but the leg
positioning is all off. Interesting looking piece tho.

I also wonder about the ear breakage as well. In the side profile photo it
doesn't look like the ears are as broken off as they're shown in the head on
photo. I almost wonder if she put up photos that belong to two different
horses.

And in the belly shot the horse looks much more glossy than it does in the side
profile photo.

I guess the only way to know is to write to the winner of the auction and ask
them what it's like when they get it. Hee, I just might do that as I'm so
intrigued by the whole thing. :-)

I felt that I could see the black -- probably a difference in monitors. And
the "line" Laura mentions is, I believe, the contrast of the out-of-focus knee
against the in-focus upper forearm.

OTOH, the full body picture looks matte, while the belly photo looks glossy.
I'll be very interested to hear what you learn, Laura! sue

I looked at the horse and looked thru my 3 different books and I found nothing
on this horse! In fact, I'm real leery that this horse is even a Beswick! If
you look real closely at the photo of the belly stamp the legs don't show the
black shading that is shown on the horse in the above photo (which shows a side
profile of the horse). None of the Beswicks that I saw in the books has those
ribs showing and in that same leg position. And if you look at the photo of
the face markings it just doesn't look like the same horse shown in the first
photo. There's also a wierd "line" shown in the 2nd photo that I can't figure
out. IT's almost like there's a picture of the belly and then a broken leg
that's been stuck there. Look at it closely and see if you can figure out what
I mean.

Does anyone else feel the same way about this horse?

I wrote to the seller and suggested that she takes off the music as it was so
annoying! I also asked for more info on this horse, so we'll see. I'll let
everyone know if I hear anything.

I don't have a clue about the Beswick, but that MUSIC! After I read your
post, I didn't even want to go check! I surf eBay late at night after
Kiddies are in bed, and I absolutely HATE ads that have music (or neighing
horses...) in them. I've now learned to pay attention, and when that little
"importing movie" alert box pops up... hit STOP!!! I have a Mac, too, and
I'm also using Netscape... hey! I have a question for you... do you ever
get an annoying message about a "Broken Pipe" when you're on eBay? I've
been having major problems with that, and have written the Users Group @
Netscape, but haven't heard back yet... oh well. (Wow, I got WAY off topic
there, didn't I? Sorry!)

OK, to bring this back in line... I've changed ISPs, and my website
location has changed. If you've bookmarked my site for the photo/pricelist
of current HRs, you'll need to change it. New site address is in my
"signature".

By the way, I love to trade, and will trade current HR's for discontinued
ones, if anyone has any duplicates.

Have just put my PH bisque "Bressay" on eBay. Much lower reserve than what I
was asking on Exchange the other day.

Honestly, these little mares are RARE, there were only 37 made/sold in
bisque, and I think many of those have now been painted. Pristine bisques of
this first mass-produced PH mini are NOT gonna be common. (I've got two in
painting stages myself.)

A great piece for a collector's class, much more impressive than a bisque
"Limerick", of which tons were made...

Or, if you like to glaze customize, well, there aren't all that many glaze
CM "Bressays" around either!

Beswick 1373 Pinto in Black Tobiano, second version.

This one is really really nice, well painted eyes and hooves and markings.
Excellent mold detail. The picture is not as nice as she is! The reasonable
reserve has already been met, so there's no guesswork!

MINT condition. The black & white pintos seldom turn up, the chestnut &
whites seem to be far more common on eBay. Here's your chance at a certified
nice one, I've had her for years! Selling only because I need money, work
remains slow.

Welcome!

Bidding is now open for the Kalamazoo Select Auction. Held in
conjunction with Kalamazoo Valley Live, the Kalamazoo Select Auction
features pieces from the hobby's top artists! Unless noted, 90% of the
proceeds from each lot will go to the artist with the remaining 10%
going to support KVL! See below for bidding information.

Now, on to the lot descriptions. Each description is followed by the
payment options available for that lot and the minimum bid or current
bid amount for that piece. Currently we have the following fabulous
lots confirmed:

Tom Bainbridge - Tom will be painting a very in-demand resing for his
personal submission to the auction, the Lisa Rivera Western Pleasure
resin. These beautiful pieces have sold for upwards of $700 recently on
eBay. This particular horse comes with a sculpted banded mane and
flowing tail which Lisa herself created. Tom is anticipating one of his
spectacular dapple grays for this boy! Sure to be lovely, keep your eyes
peeled to the web page for photos!
10% to KVL
Check, MO or credit card.
Current bid: $450

Tom Bainbridge - Tom has chosen to paint King Cortez, the large Hagen
Renaker rearing mustang, in a yet to be determined, but no doubt
stunnin, color! This piece is sure to be a unique and desirable
addition to the collections of china and custom lovers alike. See the
web page for photos of an OF King Cortez.
100% to KVL.
Check or MO.
Current bid: $250

Joan Berkwitz of Pour Horse Pottery - an exclusive opportunity to own 1
of 20 original finish 'Maggie' minis. Maggie is a delicate Eriskay Pony
in rose gray whose legs are too fragile to withstand large scale
production. See the web page for photos.
50% to KVL!
Check, MO or credit card.
Current bid: $275

Donna Chaney of Animal Artistry - Donna has chosen to enter an Artist
Proof of her recently re-worked Working Hunter Stallion. Donna
completely updated this popular stallion by resculpting his head and
refining his body. This piece is one of five Artist's Proofs and will
otherwise be offered only in a limited edition of twenty to Animal
Artistry Connoisseur Club members. Donna anticipates a luscious dark
mahogany bay. See the web page for an example of this mold.
10% to KVL!
Check, MO or credit card.
Current bid: $200

Lynn Fraley - 'Jemez Nell' is 1 of 2 Wrynna pony resins to be customized
by Lynn. Nell has an added flowing mane and tail and slight facial
resculpting for a more Welsh look. Lynn has painted her a smoldering
dusky golden chestnut with flaxen tresses and chrome. Photos up on the
web page.
10% to KVL!
Check, MO or credit card.
Current bid: $525

D'arry Jone Frank - For the auction, D'arry will be painting one of her
new resins! He is a TB/warmblood type jumping horse in full leap at the
take-off position. He is small classic scale and absolutely gorgeous.
D'arry will be painting him this week so we should have word on a color
soon!
10% to KVL
Check or MO.
Starting bid: $200

Karen Gerhardt - a stunning dapple rose gray Donna Chaney striking out
Arab meant for Karen's own showstring. This is a rare chance to get a
piece painted by Karen who no longer has time to paint much. Check out
the web
page for photos!
25% to KVL!
Check or MO.
Current bid: $200

Kristina Lucas - Kristina has done a custom glaze of her newest
piece,Tesla, a frolicking classic size draft foal. Ms. Lucas says that
these photos do not do justice to all the wonderful subtleties of this
filly's color. She has a shimmery white body with a hint of cream
throughout and lots of pink shadings in the appropriate area. Those icy
blue eyes top it all off - truly a litle ice princess. There will be no
other Teslas fired in this color although Kristina might release Tesla
in a limited edition (a la Knut and Orson) as a chestnut Belgian foal.
Photos on the web page.
10% to KVL!
Check, MO or credit card.
Current bid: $400

Sarah Minkiewicz - Sarah has taken a Franklin Mint galloping Black
Beauty and completely resculpted his head so that he now has a stunning
Arab profile! He also has an added flowing mane and tail and painted him
a luxurious dark dapple rose gray coat. Photos are now up on the web
page. Check out this beautiful Arabian!
10% to KVL!
Check or MO.
Current bid: $400

Lisa Rivera - with major resculpting, Lisa has transformed a Breyer Appy
Performance Horse into a very balanced stock horse gelding in a halter
pose. This gentleman is a medium seal bay pinto with a sculpted mane and
tail and metal shoes!
10% to KVL!
Check or MO.
Min bid: $100

Carol Williams - an unpainted copy of Carol's newest resin, Parr's Dream
Doll, a weanling stock filly. High bidder on this lot is guaranteed to
get one copy from the very first batch cast rather than wait their turn
in the lottery system. See web page for photos.
10% to KVL!
Check or MO.
Current bid: $150

Photos of all lots will be posted to the web page by the first week of
April (at the very latest). Many photos are up already so please take a
look!

See, that's the thing - I have no idea what this fellow is worth, which is why
I was thinking of ebay. I know the pros and cons of it, but when you're
selling something like this that truely is a one-of-a-kind it's probably the
best route to go.

I will post to breakables when and if I do put him on ebay. I haven't even
decided 100% if I will put him up for sale. I just might keep him! :-)

Thanks for the interest tho.

Yep, I'm back, after being off for some months. I uns*bbed when I had to
go to Sacramento cuz of my mom's death and just never got around to
res*bbing. I lost all sorts of motivation to do stuff like that. Thank
goodness for cats - they make you get up off the couch even if only to feed
them and clean out the kitty litter box! :-0

I'm sure I missed out on all sorts of nifty discussions about stuff. :-(
If there's anything of interest that you feel I need to know, forward 'em
my way. I'll gladly read 'em now.

And an announcement from the business end of things. Some of you may not
have realized that North Light has recently reduced prices on some of their
horses and dogs. They're now mass producing these pieces and feel they can
charge less for them because of that. So, now you can get an Irish Draft
in a reddish bay (no white markings) for $75!!! The price used to be $190
for this guy in this color. He's still $190 in other solid colors, but if
you're looking for remake bodies - you can't beat this price. I never even
sold them broken for this price as it's way below the usual wholesale price!

If you want to find out more about these pieces, please click on this url:

If you want to scope out the rest of my web site, please click on the url

I thought about putting this piece up on ebay for quite some time and have
never gotten around to it. It's a test color Owynn painted by the factory
and given to me when I was a dealer of the Pour Horse pieces way back when.
I'm not sure exactly what color it's supposed to be - kind of a
reddish/tannish roan/chestnut. Doesn't have a red face like a roan would
tho. I have photos, but they really don't bring out the true color.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was any interest in this piece at all? I
wouldn't even know what to ask for it, money wise, which is why I'm
thinking of putting him up on ebay. Normally I wouldn't sell any of my
personal collection of chinas, but since I just got a Royal Worcester I
kind of need to pay him off. If you know what I mean, Vern. ;-)

would be super in a collectors class, as many of the bisques sold have now
been painted. Grab her for your collection, or glaze customize her!

No time payments! If she does not sell here quickly, she goes to eBay.

Have one, really nice example of the Loza Electrica special run "Ozone"
black tovero Paint horse. Now discontinued. You don't find many Paint
chinas, and this one is done after a real horse!

$45 ppd. If he does not sell quickly, he goes to eBay, so here's your
chance!

graycyn@xxxxxxx.xxxx

A new *announcements only* list for Pour Horse Pottery and the upcoming
website Pour Horse Patter has been created.

You may join if you wish to receive all the latest news from Pour Horse
Pottery and Lucas Studio. I plan to use this list to announce updates to the
upcoming Pour Horse Patter website as well as other news from the pottery. I
don't expect there to be too much traffic on the list, tho I will also post
updates to the Pour Horse pages and other related news. It's a great way to
keep informed without having to endure a full mailbox!

Also, I don't have to clutter up the general lists with small update
postings and such. Particularly things like pix, articles and all that only
PH collectors would be interested in. I'm hoping to have a partial site up
by end of spring.

If you're on the web, you can check it out by visiting my site and clicking
on the Pour Horse Pottery link. From there, click on the list link.

I've just gone through a bout of Spring cleaning, so to speak, to make
room (and funds to pay my credit cards) for a few new resins that I have
bought recently. So, I have put some of my Pour Horse/Lucas Studio pieces
on eBay. My loss is your gain. There are reserves--fair market value on
Bressay and Saucy (and I don't know the value of the resins), but all of
which are what I paid for them. Check them out:

I just got my Collier tonight! Wonderful! Also got a bisque and a resin.
The bisque has better detail than the resin. I was surprised. I'd always
heard that the swing to resins was because so much more detail could be
gotten out of them. Going to hold the bisque against the day I get to try
glazing or I may break down and send it to Marge Para <G>

Janis
------------------------------------------------------

From what I've seen, china/porcelain etc. has just as much potential for
detail as resin - it just isn't often put into the mold (for convenience,
expense or ?? - I don't know enough to say), or if it's there, it often ends
up obscured by thick glazing. Hobby resins are more comparable to bisque
pieces in that there is no paint or 'finishing' layer on top of the detail,
so you get to see exactly what's there.

I've always wanted to collect china horses, but I like the kind of detail on
hobby resins, so it's hard for me to find something that meets both the
detail and my budgetary qualifications. It also complicates things that I
prefer matte over gloss finishes.

Anybody have some suggestions for brands of china/porcelain to look for?

There are no digests sent because there have not been enough digests to
generate one. Same for the web archives.

Karen,

I finally got the Onelist.com site to *find* breakables, then it took 2
tries to get subscribed. However, it said there are no digests available for
the list. Is this 'cause it hasn't been up long enough to generate a digest,
or did you set it for no digests?

Please tell me it is still possible to read it from the web, I'd hate not to
be able to participate at all as far as reading goes!

Wishing the onelist site were as cooperative as eGroups! It also took 2
tries to get my password changed the other day.

Sorry for public post, but my computer crash the other day must have taken
Karen's addy, can't find it!

As I was reading the other horror stories about other people destroying
your prized HR's, it brought back my own horror story... where I destroyed
my own...

It was a couple of years ago at Christmas time. I have a lovely huge shadow
box that hangs on the wall that I store my favorite HR's, stablemates &
other horse/dog figurines in. I rotate the items every few months so I can
see my favorites. I was changing over into the Christmas stuff... and had a
table loaded with things going in, and others coming out.
I had the shadow box open, and was removing items... a child goes running
by, very close to table full of HR's, I turn to tell child to walk inside
the house, and I bumped the shadow box...
Matte palomino Thunder goes thundering to the floor, followed by old mini
circus ponies & several other nice old minis... lots of other stuff hit the
ground also, including some old German Christmas figurines.
Child took one look at this fallout and quietly walked to her room. I was
sick. I couldn't believe it. Thunder had been near mint with only a tiny
hoof chip. Now he had his tail and every leg broken off, some in 2 or 3
pieces. Other minis were shattered, as well. I cried... then I packed them
all up and stuck them in a corner of my closet to be forgotten, until now.
Maybe I'll try & glue him back together... some day when I'm feeling
strong! ha!
