Amazingly enough, I actually had a small "find" on Monday. I started
looking at Craig's List to see if anyone was offering any real horse jumps FS
(no, sigh). Naturally I had to go check out collectibles section....I don't get
out much anymore, too much "real life" stuff going on. It was fun to take a
break and go to strange people's houses to look at mostly junk! :-)
A lady about 25 min south of me advertised a horse collection. Didn't look
like much in the group pic she sent me, but decided to go see anyway. Turned
out, the lady used to show big time on the AQHA circuit, had to retire for
health reasons. She and her husband were VERY proud of their stuff, I got to
see quite a few AQHA trophies & souveniers. Always fun to talk to other horse
lovers.
She did indeed have a big bunch o' junk (can you say half a dozen of the
beloved bronze souvenier western saddle horses), but I took home a non-thrilling
but still nice little stash:
Lefton direct copy of the H-R small Honora, who is mint and quite cool!
Slightly larger than the real thing, everything else is spot-on. He is glossy
bay & has sticker. Small Honora is one of my fave H-R molds, so to me this guy
is nifty!
Beswick Black Beauty foal, mint.
Lefton classic scale sort of suckling foal, mint & nice.
Norcrest grey classic scale foal, 2 OK repairs, very cute guy
Non-clinky stuff included a pair of Breyer black G1 TB foals, a chalky bay
Breyer Shetland Pony, a pair of sort-of FAS copies that were *incredibly* tiny &
detailed, one about 1.5" & the other half the size. Also a hard plastic white
foal marked Germany, and a 2" high copy of the Breyer Western Prancer that is
just amazing in the detail and cute as can be. All of that for $30. :-)
Worth the trip. And I always view that sort of trip as an *adventure*, anyway,
even if a horse find doesn't pan out.
Must get out more! :-)
