Hi Mo,
Well, where you are going no different than some cities in the US, Chicago,
LA, San Diego, etc.
Only scary place here is that you will not want to go back to US. Believe
me, I am one of those!
As long as do not look for hookers, drugs, or other not so nice things,
there is nothing different here than problems that I saw while 6 years back
in KC.
Just do not act like a dumb tourist, dress like a local and nobody will know
the difference.
At night you use same sense as if in a large city as Denver or Chicago, you
do not go down dark, nobody on the sidewalk streets. Carry only what you
need in pockets, do not flash cameras or cell phones that are fancy, do not
wear shorts, and sneaker with socks, nobody wear socks with shorts, but
Americans.
Really just good common sense. Enjoy your trip. When you have date set for
sure, give me a direct email, and I will give you my phone here in São
Paulo. Who knows we can meet for beers or something, but that is far out.
Also if you can spare a day or two, a two day trip to falls Iguaçu would be
worth it, running with much extra water. Also the big dam there, close by
worth seeing. Arrive early morning from flight from SP, visit it and dam,
then next after noon fly to Porto Alegre. Travel addition since is based on
miles normally, is minimum, only hotel. Well worth it.
More questions, please get back with me. By weekend will have more time to
explain. Or send me your private phone number in private email to me, and I
will give you my US number and you can call me directly, though I answer it
here in São Paulo.
Have a great evening.
Bill

Happy New Year everyone!
I am going to Brazil, Sao Paolo, Porte Alegra, and Bahia. Wondering if
someone can give me safe travel tips. From what I read and heard, Brazili
appeared to be a very scary place to visit. I will be traveling by myself
:( Thank you for your info. May 2011 a best year for everyone.
Regards,
Mo
