Boysed is devoted to the discussion of boys' education, and gender issues
in education generally.
It is open to anyone interested in improving educational and social
outcomes of boys and men at all levels of education from early childhood to
university.
Parents, teachers and others involved in education or child-rearing are
particularly encouraged to join this discussion.
The focus is on practical ideas and action plans for addressing the special
problems facing boys.
Some issues I would like to see discussed are:
* Why are boys falling behind girls academically?
* Boys' suicide and self esteem
* Gendered differences in discipline and appropriate discipline
* Making schools "boy-friendly"
* "Boy" culture
* Understanding and responding to boys' developmental stages
* Bullying of boys and by boys
* Lack of male role models in schools
* Do boys and girls have different learning modes?
* Benefits and detriments of single-sex schooling
* Role of sports
* Making literature and other arts subjects attractive to boys
* Awareness of boys' issues in teacher training and education
And any other subjects that will help produce happy, healthy and wise young men.
