This group is concerned with genealogy in the Botosani area. The majority of members are of Jewish descent although there is no plan to omit anyone else. Everyone interested in Botosani is welcome.

For much of the 19th century until WW2 Botosani had a very large Jewish population but this has declined to just a few hundred people. Most of the members no longer live in Romania although many or their parents were born in the Botosani area. Other nearby towns of interest include Bucecea, Darabani, Dorohoi, Flamanzi, Frumusica, Hirlau, Mihailena, Raudauti-Prut, Saveni, Sefanesti, and Sulita.

We would like to share data including the immense resources at the Botosani branch of the Romanian National Archives. We are also interested in history and travel. We welcome any related questions, discussions and suggestions.
