Is this really the best deal? Looking at supermarket
fliers, I've seen water advertised at less than $1/
gallon or even 2gal for $0.88. I know we want to
recycle, but maybe I could haul the plastic jugs out
to LA to recycle, depending on the vehicle I take.

I've tracked down another generator in Reno. It's a 6kW one so the price is
$240 /wk. We only need about 3kW
The rental is with:
United Rentals Inc, 775-322-0800, 1510 W 4th St, Reno, NV 89503-5059

MapsOnUS had their name listed as America Rents so don't be fooled.

Anyway, I have no deposit on the rental but they swear that it'll be there.
John is beating the bushes trying to find another camp to share a generator
with since we only need it for about an hour of use the whole week. We can
either share the one we have or buy some time from someone else.

I'd rather borrow another generator. $240 is a lot for so little usage.

OK-

30 5gallon jugs of H2O have been scheduled for picup in RENO next
monday.
~3.52gal/person/day or 150gal total

$7.95per = $250ish total for water.

planning

Hi Everyone,

A quick update on what is happening on the Esplanade (Head Way, 10:00
and 2:00).

I have gotten all of the tiki torch and burn barrel requests. This
is now be finalized. Expect a barrel around Tuesday of the event.

Rangers may come by and check out tiki torch placement, just to make
sure they are not placed too close to flamable materials, or too
far back into the bowels of your camp. I really hope this goes down
without incident so we can continue to loosen tiki torch
restrictions. Fingers are crossed!

I have not gotten very many people stepping forward for burn pyre
duty. I leave for the playa today and cannot gather more names of
camps willing to help on this level, but we will be asking all of you
on corners to step up to the plate on site when possible. This
entails watching to make sure that toxic materials are not burned,
that fires are not left un attended and that people bag their own
waste after their burn, keeping the pyre clean for others to use. If
everyone works together it should be little burden on anyone. A warm
thank you to all the camps that offered to manage a pyre.

Reports from the site are that the weather is hot, the winds are
strong in the afternoon and the playa surface is MAGNIFICENT!

GOT TO GO AND SET UP CAMP! SEE YOU UP THERE!

WILL DO-

ALSO- I found a great deal on two bikes yesterday in the Want
Advertiser. FREE. So, Tom is going to put a little work into these two
(kinda old) roadbikes. One will end up a rickshaw, maybe two. But
we'll at least have transportation for four, probably 6!!!!

Thanks Mr. Bike Guru(aka Leebs, aka, Dr. Funk, aka, Prof. Nesferatu) or
Tom.

You just got a notice that I uploaded a file to the group site.

It's an excel spreadsheet of what I have for pricing and shopping
lists so far.

I've also put the shopping list into two tables in the database area.

One is a list of stuff that we need to bring and the other is stuff
we
need to buy in Reno

the link is:
http://www.egroups.com/database/bostonburns

The best way to look at the lists is to click the column headings to
sort the info the way you wnat it and then click on "Printable report"
This puts the whole list on one page.

PLEASE read and add to the list!!!

The best way not to forget sometihng is if we all look at it and
think
of stuff that's missing.

I just looked and the sales tax in Reno is going to be something like 7 or
7.5%

I don't know what county it's in and it changes by county.

Anyone can correct his but I believe the current head count is:
Me
Eva
Stephanie
John
Tom
Doug
=6

For vehicles we have:
Stephanie's Car = 4-5
The Uhaul = 2-3
Total = 6-8

As I see it we don't need any more cars. The Uhaul should be able to carry
everybody's gear so the passenger areas of each car will be wide open.

In other news:

Eva and I just got a super nice 64 watt solar panel at a great price. We're
planning to play with it later on so it's not a group expense. The thing
will provide 17 volts and 3.8 amps, which should completely charge a battery
in about a day. We also got a regulator for $30 that will charge without us
having to think about it.

I'm getting very excited!!!!!

I'm in process on getting LEDs and Fiber

Does anyone know if Home Despot sells lexan?

Excellent! (sounds of anxiety dissolving)

So, do we still want the passenger van i reserved? Are
there two of these or just one?
I guess the question is, who knows exactly what
vehicles we have (and when)?

I don't think i've ever seen 5 gallons at the
supermarket - maybe Costco would have them, or Wal

if it's cheaper we could get the 2.5'ers instead.

Hi B-man Glowworm Camp,
Wish I could be in on this planning meeting. I'm
still planning on going. All the advice I have gotten
says it should be ok to miss a week of classes and
still get caught up before exams. I think I'll be
driving-it remains to be seen whether my chariot will
be a Ford Escort or a Grand Cherokee. So I can drive
in the day before on Sunday if we need to secure the
campsite, etc. I can go ahead and bring in my own
water, food etc if that will be a problem. Tell me
what else you might need from LA or Davis.
-Stephanie

Too bad Don isn't comiong... we could seel him as a person to play
pranks on.......

I think a planning meeting is a good idea-

I also think taking a year off between high school and college is a good
idea... DAMN, I wish I'd done that.

Hi everybody,
Should we have another planning meeting, like, soon?
We should all know what's done, what's not, and talk about things
like
food, travel schedules, food, cars, food, toys, food ... etc.
We can do it at my house, or i could volunteer Pratt St. as the
location.

Since there will be a lot to do that first day in Reno, i have heard
that it is a good idea to get a room for the first night. so that
leftover business can be done in the morning instead of
rushing/cutting corners/sleeping in the car. What you'se think?

What needs to be done in Reno? so far i can think of:
Pick up rental car - we have 1 passenger minivan; so far that's all i
know about
Pick up uhaul too - did anyone get one?
Pick up air cargo or UPS shipped stuff at airport or wherever
Grocery shopping
Bev. distributor for water and stuff
Home Depot to pick up our materials order & whatever else
? Goodwill for couches, bikes, whatever

I will probably be bringing a complete bike tool kit so that we have
some useful service to barter ("Glow Worm Bike Shop"?), can anyone
else think of a good "occupation"? My friend Brian from the genome
ctr. is going, he and his friends are black-jumpsuited Pranksters for
Hire.

Chris here surfing on Eva's computer.

check out:

Cheap easy geodesic domes

Most of this stuff we know but repetition is good. Most of this
information can be found with better graphics at the official b-man site
but this has the "first person experience" feel.

Okay, I added the start and end dates of b-man to the egroups.com calendar.
I also added links to the Burning Man site (www.burningman.com) and to a
preliminary site at www.ai.mit.edu/people/cmorse/bman/home.html that I set
up.

I case the other email didn't list it the group site on egroups is

This should work well, i am on a couple of other
lists that use Egroups - formerly OneList. There are
some good features, like archiving messages,
possibility of combining messages into digests if
traffic is too high, a sort of 'drop box' for people
to leave files in, etc.

So what ideas are people thinking about? There are
some really good ones i've heard already.

Anyone know how to make a 12V DC to 120V AC converter?
(That is, car batteries to run Christmas tree lights
etc.?)

Tom
