And that is why BOOTS will not convene for its regular falls get-together.

The western end of Lake Texoma is in the throes of an algae bloom, and the Army Corps of Engineers has prohibited contact with water in our end of Texoma.

Algae comes and goes in any lake, and rain cures much. Once the current drought breaks the algae will subside and BOOTS will sail as before, twice a year, every spring and each fall.

Spring 2012 is on track, algae willing, and BOOTS will once again draw sail enthusiasts from across the land - and there is another event this fall to keep the messabout spirit alive.

Sail Oklahoma on Lake Eufala is a relatively new event but has already gained national attention. This year will see a historic concentration of grit, boatbuilding talent, and steely-eyed seamanship - the World (the WORLD!) Puddle Duck championship will be held during Sail Oklahoma this year.
