you just knew that these were coming lol

It is near the Christmas break of the school year. The students have turned in all their work and there is really nothing more to do.  All the children are restless and the teacher decides to have an early dismissal

Teacher: "Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can leave early today."

Little Johnny says to himself "Good, I want to get outta here. I'm smart and will answer the question."

Teacher: "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, "Abraham Lincoln."

Teacher: "That's right Susie, you can go home."

Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first.

Teacher: "Who said 'I Have a Dream'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, "Martin Luther King."

Teacher: "That's right Mary, you can go."

Johnny is even madder than before.

Teacher: "Who said 'Ask not, what your country can do for you'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, "John F. Kennedy."

Teacher: "That's right Nancy , you may also leave."

Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer to any of the questions.

When the teacher turns her back Johnny says, "I wish these broads would keep their mouths shut!"

The teacher turns around: "NOW WHO SAID THAT?"

Johnny: "TIGER WOODS. CAN I GO NOW?

 Buyer's Remorse

2 Chronicles 25:9 “Amaziah asked the man of God, ‘But what about the hundred talents I paid for those Israelite troops?’”

Observation: Amaziah, king of Judah, was preparing to war against Edom. To augment his army he hired a hundred thousand fighting men from Israel for a hundred talents of silver. (2 Chron. 25:6) After doing this he was challenged by a man of God who reminded Amaziah that the Lord was not with Israel; in fact, such alliance reflected lack of trust in God. Amaziah was told to terminate the arrangement if he wanted to experience God’s blessing. Amaziah’s immediate concern was for the money he had already paid to hire Israel’s army, but the man of god assured him that “the Lord can give you much more than that.” (verse 9(b))

Application: There is always a cost in following the Lord. While the benefits are eternal and wonderful beyond imagining, they are generally deferred benefits, while obedience’s cost is often immediate. This was Amaziah’s conundrum.

He had just paid a great deal of money to rent a shiny new army, and then came a man of God to tell him he had erred. If he used that army, God would wreak havoc on his plans. Amaziah’s immediate thoughts were of buyer’s remorse. He didn’t express gratitude to God for heading his sin off at the pass. He wasn’t thrilled by the supernatural evidence of God’s watchcare. Instead, he complained about the payment he had made and what obedience would cost. Never mind that his rent-an-army agreement with Israel had been made without consulting God in the first place.

How easy it is for me to act as Amaziah acted: to make commitments for purchase of things I don’t need and for which I have not consulted God. In this I am too often guilty of Paul’s description of lawlessness in the last days: “People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money…without self control…rash…lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power (2 Tim. 3:2-5).

The pleasures of comfort, like pleasures of sin, are fleeting at best. Just as there was a man of God sent to speak warning into Amaziah’s life about the approaching consequences of his presumption, so God today speaks through the Holy Spirit to similarly bring correction and warning to me. The surpassingly good news is this: “The Lord can bring (me) much more than that.” Immeasurable blessings are mine, heaped up and overflowing, if I will but seek Him with my whole heart and then obey.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, the passing pleasures of sin and self reliance are as nothing compared to the rewards of loving You above all else. Stir me to zealous obedience.

You Better Watch Out!
BY: Kristine Byron

If you listen carefully to children you will have plenty about which to
laugh.
~Steve Allen

The holidays were fast approaching. Many of the homes in our
neighborhood were decorated with lights, snowmen and reindeer. It was a
real treat to drive around with my two-year-old daughter and hear the
oohs and ahhs as she took it all in.
Kendall was a very precocious child, talking early and with great
expression and drama. As she was very apt to repeat excerpts from every
adult conversation she overheard, it became obvious that we needed to
watch what was said around her.
It was a shock to me one day as Kendall dropped her toy and said "Jesus
Christ." My first instinct was to reprimand her, then I realized she was
just repeating words she had heard me say in frustration.
"You can't say that, Kendall. It's not nice."
"You say it, Mom. What do I get to say?"
"Mommy shouldn't say it either, so let's say 'darn it' instead," I
suggested.
That seemed to pacify her and the holidays were now rid of any
unexpected and embarrassing outbursts of swearing in front of family or
friends.
A few days later, my mother called and asked if I would bring Kendall
over for lunch so she could show off her granddaughter to her friends.
On the way to my mom's house, we passed a beautiful manger scene on the
center divider of the road. Never having seen anything like it, Kendall
asked what it was. She was fascinated and seemed to enjoy the story when
I explained it to her.
When we reached Grandma's, she couldn't wait to get in the house and
tell everyone what she had just seen. The door opened and she ran in.
Out of breath and excited, she told everyone how she had just seen
Joseph, Mary and the Baby "Darn it" in the manger.~~~~~~

READY FOR YOUR SECOND CUP STORY???~~~

MARGALOW
by Doleta Wood

When I first met my dog Margalow, it was at my
daughter's house. She had gotten her from the pound. A little Jack
Russell Terrier whose main purpose in life was to be the playmate for
their Golden Retriever, Ladybug.
My daughter said she picked out Margalow because
she was "sturdy" and, at the time, small. She wouldn't take up too much
room in the pen with Ladybug, and she'd be good company for a large dog
and three rowdy boys. As time passed, Ladybug died and Margalow was
relegated to a smaller pen at the back of their country home.
Everytime I went to my daughter's home after
Ladybug's untimely demise, I started noticing Margalow jumping on the
chain link of the pen. There was actually something going on in her eyes
-- an intelligence I just couldn't deny. I started to feel sorry for
her, and against my better judgment, I adopted her.
Expecting at least some sadness from my grandsons,
they barely took notice that she was gone.
When I think of Jack Russell Terriers I think of cute
little canines like Eddie on Frazier. Margalow is nothing at all like
Eddie. For one thing, she smelled bad. My first order of business was to
give her a bath. That is when I learned I had to lift her like a
forklift, scooping her up from the side. She had obviously been kicked
in the ribs by a former owner or maybe even hit by a car. With my bad
back, getting her into the tub was a monumental feat with all the
nudging and twisting to gently set her down in the warm sudsy water.
After changing her bath water twice and using three
bottles of dog shampoo, I made a surprising discovery. She wasn't a
brown dog after all, but mostly white with tan freckles! Her head was
brown, as was the brown marking on her haunches we affectionately dubbed
her "butt print." It looked exactly as if the elf whose job it was to
paint markings on this mutt sat down on her to admire his handiwork and
left his seat print on her back.
Also, much to my surprise, was her love of being blow
dried. I had never in my life had an animal that would stand so still
while someone pointed a high pitched, warm power motor at their head. No
amount of fancy shampoo or blow drying would make her cuddly though. Her
hair was as stiff and bristly as one of those brown welcome mats made
tough enough to stand up to muddy boots.
Another way she is nothing like Eddie, or any other Jack
Russell, is her girth. They are supposed to be light and quick, built
for speed. She, on the other hand, is more like a baby manatee. She is
without a doubt, the fattest Jack Russell I've ever seen. When a Jack
Russell jumps in your lap it should be barely noticed, not like a wet
bag of cement.
I refuse to believe she is overfed. When we adopted her,
she pretty much had an open bar in her pen. She had all the food a dog
could ever want in one of those self-feeders. We rarely give her people
food, and even when getting switched to one of those snooty pet store
dog foods she never lost an ounce of weight. She is however, pretty
lazy, given she is supposed to be a hunting dog. That's really an
understatement. She will growl if anyone dares to disturb her when she's
snoring on her red princess pillow in the family room. That's right. She
snores. If there's one thing I've learned from her, it's never, ever
miss an opportunity to take a nap when it presents itself.
If there is anything practical about Margalow, I suppose
it is her usefulness as a four-legged barometer. If there is a storm
within 10 miles her stubby tail will snap shut like a tiny steel trap
door. She will leap to my lap and shiver until the storm has passed. She
will not eat, go to the bathroom or sleep until she is sure she is safe.
One thing I'm guilty of is assigning animals with people
attributes. I suppose it comes from growing up with talking animal
movies like Milo and Otis. As much as I didn't want this dog to begin
with, I find myself missing her terribly while on vacation. I imagine
her tormented with anguish the way Bambi or Dumbo were when separated
from their mothers.
Even with all her foibles we hug with delight when
re-united when we get back from vacation. We go to the recliner where
she springs to my lap.
I say "Umph," and we take a long contented nap together.

FRIENDS ARE LIKE BALLOONS, ONCE YOU LET  THEM GO, YOU CAN'T GET THEM BACK SO I ' M GOING TO TIE YOU TO MY HEART  SO I NEVER LOSE YOU.

SEND THE POEM BELOW TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS  INCLUDING ME! SEE HOW MANY YOU GET BACK...

Well, here is the  cure... just smile and say...
Dear Lord,
I know you're  watching over me
And I'm feeling  truly blessed
For no matter what I  pray for
You always know  what's best!

I have this circle  of E-mail friends,
Who mean the world  to me;

Some days I "send"  and "send,"
At other times, I  let them be.

I am so blessed to  have these friends,

With whom I've grown  so close;
So this little poem  I dedicate to them,
Because to me they  are the "Most"!

When I see each name  download,
And view the message  they've sent;
I know they've  thought of me that day,
And "well wishes"
were their intent.

So to you, my  friends,

I would like to say,
Thank  you for being a  part;
Of all my daily  contacts,

This comes right  from my
heart

God bless you is my  prayer today,
I'm honored to call  you "friend";
I pray the Lord will  keep you safe,

Until we write  again.

"Good friends are  like stars...You don't always see them, but you know they are always there."

The phone rang and the lady of the house answered.

"Hello?"

"Mrs. Sanders, please."

"Speaking."

"Mrs. Sanders, this is Dr. Jones at St. Agnes Laboratory.  When your husband's doctor sent his biopsy to the lab last week, a biopsy from another Mr. Sanders arrived as well.  We don't know which one belongs to your husband.  Frankly, neither result is good."

She took a deep breath.  "What do you mean?"

"Well, one of the specimens tested positive for Alzheimer's and the other one tested positive for HIV.  But we can't tell which is which."

"That's dreadful!  Can you do the test again?" she hoped.

"I'm sorry, but the new health care system will only pay for tests one time."

"Well, what am I supposed to do now?"

"The folks at Obama health care recommend that you drop your husband off somewhere in the middle of town.  If he finds his way home, don't sleep with him."

MCj01012280000[1]

Have you ever looked at a map of the world? Look at Texas with me just for a second..
That picture, with the Panhandle and the Gulf Coast , and the Red River and the
Rio Grande is as much a part of you as anything ever will be. As soon as anyone
anywhere in the world looks at it they know what it is. It's Texas .. Pick any kid off the
street in Japan and draw him a picture of Texas in the dirt and he'll know what it is.
What happens if I show you a picture of any other state? You might get it maybe after
a second or two, but who else would? And even if you do, does it ever stir any feelings in you?

In every man, woman and child on this planet, there is a person who wishes just once he

could be a real live Texan and get up on a horse or ride off in a pickup. There is a little bit of
Texas in everyone.

Texas is the Alamo .. Texas is 183 men standing in a church, facing thousands of Mexican

nationals, fighting for freedom, who had the chance to walk out and save themselves, but stayed
instead to fight and die for the cause of freedom.

We send our kids to schools named William B. Travis and James Bowie and Davy Crockett,

and do you know why? Because those men saw a line in the sand and they decided to cross
it and be heroes.

John Wayne paid to do the movie himself . That is the Spirit of Texas.

Texas is Sam Houston capturing Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana at San Jacinto .

Texas is huge forests of Piney Woods like the Davy Crockett and Sam Houston National Forests .

Texas is breathtaking mountains in the Big Bend .

Texas is the unparalleled beauty of bluebonnet fields in the Texas Hill Country.

Texas is floating the rivers of the Hill Country on a hot summer day.

Texas is the beautiful, warm beaches of the Gulf Coast of South Texas
.

Texas is beaches you can drive on and have many memorable bon-fires with close friends.

Texas is that warm feeling you get when someone asks where you're from.

Texas is the shiny skyscrapers in Houston and Dallas..

Texas is world record bass from places like Lake Fork ..

Texas is Mexican foods like nowhere else, not even Mexico ...

Texas is chicken fried steak and world famous Bar-B-Q.

Texas is the Fort Worth Stockyards, Bass Hall, the Ballpark in Arlington and the

Astrodome. (guess now the Reliant Stadium too).

Texas is larger-than-life legends like Michael DeBakey, Denton Cooley, Willie Nelson,

Buddy Holly, Gene Autry, Audie Murphy, Tommy Lee Jones, Waylon Jennings, Farrah
Fawcet, Janis Joplin, Sandra Bullock, Kris Kristofferson, Tom Landry, Eva Longoria,
Darrell Royal, ZZ Top, Eric Dickerson, Earl Campbell, Nolan Ryan, Sam Rayburn,
Howard Hughes, George H. W. Bush, Lyndon B. Johnson, George W. Bush, Ann
Richards and let's not forget GEORGE STRAIT, the Big Bopper, Tex Ritter, George
Jones, Clay Walker, Mark Chestnut, to name ONLY a few.

Texas is great companies like Dell Computer, Texas Instruments, EDS and Compaq,

Whataburger, Southwest Airlines, Bell Helicopter and LOCKHEED MARTIN
AEROSPACE, Home of the F-16 Jet Fighter and the JSF Fighter, Valero.

Texas is NASA.

Texas is huge herds of cattle, beautiful horses and miles of crops.

Texas is home to the world famous King Ranch.

Texas is home to the most amazing sunsets of gold over an empty field.

Texas is hundreds of deer running around neighborhoods and fields.

Texas is skies blackened with doves and fields full of deer.

Texas is a place where towns and cities shut down to watch the local high school

football game on Friday nights and for the Cowboys on Monday Night Football,
and for the night In Old San Antonio River Parade in San Antonio.

To drive across Texas is to drive 1/3 the way across the United States .

Texas is ocean beaches, deserts, lakes and rivers, mountains and prairies,

and modern cities.

If it isn't already in Texas , you probably don't need it.

No one does anything bigger or better than it's done in Texas .

By federal law, Texas is the only state in the U.S. that can fly its flag at the same

height as the U.S. Flag. Think about that for a second. You fly the Stars and
Stripes at 20 feet in Maryland , California , or Maine , and your state flag, whatever
it is, goes at 17 feet. You fly the Stars and Stripes in front of Klein Oak High or
anyplace else at 20 feet, the Lone Star flies at the same height - 20 feet.
Do you know why? Because it is the only state that was a Republic before
it became a state.

Also, being a Texan is as high as being an American down here. Our capitol is the

only one in the country that is taller than the capitol building in Washington , D.C.
And we can divide our state into five states at any time if we wanted to! We can
become a republic again at any time the voters of Texas choose, and we included
these things as part of the deal when we came on.

That's the best part, right there.

Texas even has its own power grid!! And don't even lie to yourself...

Did I mention Live music capitol of the world?

If you are a REAL TEXAN, you won't even need to be told to pass this on.

GOD
BLESS TEXAS !!!!!!!!!!!

ROLLO CANDY/ PRETZELS

By rollmaker
A fun and easy candy. A nice crunch with chocolate/carmel, sweet and salty as well.

Ingredients

  • 50 small pretzel twists
  • 50 pieces rollo candy
  • 50 pieces whole pecans or walnuts

Directions

  1. Place pretzel pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper..
  2. Top with one Rollo candy (unwrapped)
  3. Place in a warm oven (250 degrees) to just let the candy melt on top of the pretzel to hold it in place. (about 5-6 minutes)
  4. Remove from oven and place a nut on top.Have to work fast with putting the nuts on top..this does get messy...
  5. Let cool and turn over on the parchment paper to let the treat dry out on the bottom side.. then store.

Personal Notes

I found that there are alot of pretzel twists in a bag..so may need more than one bag of rollo candies.. and pecan halves..

Enjoy.. gw

hi all~
how have you been? We're okay.  Physically well. At least no one is sick & the weather has fina ly  warmed   up alittle . A few days ago , I was freezing even in the house. It was down in the teens
So how was your weekend? Mine was okay.  We didn't do anything or go anywhere. We didn't go to church yesterday either. I was going to since it didn't appear we were getting any of the sleet & freezing rain it was calling for but I told Vanessa & Tori that if we went it would come & then I'd have to drive home in it. Sure enough about an hour later we were hit good with it. There were several car accidents right around here. So hows your weather?
Only a week & a Half til Christmas.. Hard to believe. I need to get a few more things for Vanessa,Steph & Serena.
Nick stayed the weekend & he didn't go home yesterday because of the weather. Dees coming to pick him up.
Well have a good day/week/weekend. I need to go. Take care.

I received this from a friend and thought I would pass it on.  As with all on the web, there is a possibility of fabrication rather than fact.  However, I have no indication that it is not factual.

Gut wrenching personal eyewitness account of the Fort Hood shooting

---- Original Message -----

Since I don't know when I'll sleep (it's 4 am now) I'll write what happened (the abbreviated version.....the long one is already part of the investigation with more to come).  I'll not write about any part of the investigation that I've learned about since (as a witness I know more than I should since inevitably my JAG brothers and sisters are deeply involved in the investigation).  Don't assume that most of the current media accounts are very accurate.  They're not.  They'll improve with time.  Only those of us who were there really know what went down.  But as they collate our statements they'll get it right.
>
> I did my SRP last week (Soldier Readiness Processing) but you're supposed to come back a week later to have them look at the smallpox vaccination site (it's this big itchy growth on your shoulder).  I am probably alive because I pulled a
---------- and entered the wrong building first (the main SRP building).  The Medical SRP building is off to the side.  Realizing my mistake I left the main building and walked down the sidewalk to the medical SRP building.

As I'm walking up to it the gunshots start.  Slow and methodical.  But continuous.  Two ambulatory wounded came out.  Then two soldiers dragging a third who was covered in blood.  Hearing the shots but not seeing the shooter, along with a couple other soldiers I stood in the street and yelled at everyone who came running that it was clear but to "RUN!".  I kept motioning people fast.  about 6-10 minutes later (the shooting continuous), two cops ran up.  one male, one female.  we pointed in the direction of the shots.  they headed that way (the medical SRP building was about 50 meters away).  then a lot more gunfire.  a couple minutes later a balding man in ACU's came around the building carrying a pistol and holding it tactically.  He started shooting at us and we all dived back to the cars behind us.  I don't think he hit the couple other guys who were there.  I did see the bullet holes later in the cars.  First I went behind a tire and then looked under the body of the car.  I've been trained how to respond to gunfire...but with my own weapon.  To have no weapon I don't know how to explain what that felt like.  I hadn't run away and stayed because I had thought about the consequences or anything like that.  I wasn't thinking anything through.  Please understand, there was no intention.  I was just staying there because I didn't think about running.  It never occurred to me that he might shoot me.  Until he started shooting in my direction and I realized I was unarmed.

Then the female cop comes around the corner.  He shoots her.  (according to the news accounts she got a round into him.  I believe it, I just didn't see it. he didn't go down.)  She goes down.  He starts reloading.  He's fiddling with his mags.  Weirdly he hasn't dropped the one that was in his weapon.  He's holding the fresh one and the old one (you do that on the range when time is not of the essence but in combat you would just let the old mag go).  I see the male cop around the left corner of the building.  (I'm about 15-20 meters from the shooter.)  I yell at the cop, "He's reloading, he's reloading.  Shoot him! Shoot him!)  You have to understand, everything was quiet at this point.  The cop appears to hear me and comes around the corner and shoots the shooter.

He goes down.  The cop kicks his weapon further away.  I sprint up to the downed female cop.  Another captain (I think he was with me behind the cars) comes up as well.  She's bleeding profusely out of her thigh.  We take our belts off and tourniquet her just like we've been trained (I hope we did it right...we didn't have any CLS (combat lifesaver) bags with their awesome tourniquets on us, so we worked with what we had).

Meanwhile, in the most bizarre moment of the day, a photographer was standing over us taking pictures.  I suppose I'll be seeing those tomorrow.  Then a soldier came up and identified himself as a medic.  I then realized her weapon was lying there unsecured (and on "fire").  I stood over it and when I saw a cop yelled for him to come over and secure her weapon (I would have done so but I was worried someone would mistake me for a bad guy).  I then went over to the shooter.  He was unconscious.  A Lt Colonel was there and had secured his primary weapon for the time being.  He also had a revolver.

I couldn't believe he was one of ours.  I didn't want to believe it.  Then I saw his name and rank and realized this wasn't just some specialist with mental issues.  At this point there was a guy there from CID and I asked him if he knew he was the shooter and had him secured.  He said he did.  I then went over the slaughter house...the medical SRP building.  No human should ever have to see what that looked like, and I won't tell you.  Just believe me.  Please,  there was nothing to be done there.  Someone then said there was someone critically wounded around the corner.  I ran around (while seeing this floor to ceiling window that someone had jumped through movie style) and saw a large African-American soldier lying on his back with two or three soldiers attending.  I ran up and identified two entrance wounds on the right side of his stomach, one exit wound on the left side and one head wound.  He was not bleeding externally from the stomach wounds (though almost certainly internally) but was bleeding from the head wound.

A soldier was using a shirt to try and stop the head bleeding.  He was conscious so I began talking to him to keep him so.  He was 42, from North Carolina, he was named something Jr., his son was named something III and he had a daughter as well.  His children lived with him.  He was divorced.  I told him the blubber on his stomach saved his life.  He smiled.  A young soldier in civvies showed up and identified himself as a combat medic. We debated whether to put him on the back of a pickup truck.  A doctor (well, an audiologist) showed up and said you can't move him, he has a head wound.  We finally sat tight.  I went back to the slaughterhouse.  They weren't letting anyone in there not even medics.

Finally, after about 45 minutes had elapsed some cops showed up in tactical vests.  Someone said the TBI building was unsecured.  They headed into there.  All of a sudden a couple more shots were fired.  People shouted there was a second shooter.  A half hour later the SWAT showed up.  There was no second shooter, that had been an impetuous cop apparently.  But that confused things for a while.  Meanwhile, I went back to the shooter.  The female cop had been taken away, and a medic was pumping plasma into the shooter.  I'm not proud of this but I went up to her and said "this is the shooter, is there anyone else who needs attention...do them first".  She indicated everyone else living was attended to.  I still hadn't seen any EMTs or ambulances.   I had so much blood on me that people kept asking me if I was ok.  But that was all other people's blood.  Eventually, (an hour and a half to two hours after the shootings) they started landing choppers.  They took out the big African American guy and the shooter.  I guess the ambulatory wounded were all at the SRP building.  Everyone else in my area was dead.
>
> I suppose the emergency responders were told there were multiple shooters.  I heard that was the delay with the choppers (they were all civilian helicopters).  They needed a secure LZ, but other than the initial cops who did everything right, I didnt' see a lot of them for a while.  I did see many a soldier rush out to help their fellows/sisters.  There was one female soldier, I dont' know her name or rank but I would recognize her anywhere who was everywhere helping people.  A couple people, mainly civilians, were hysterical, but only a couple.  One civilian freaked out when I tried to comfort her when she saw my uniform.  I guess she had seen the shooter up close.  A lot of soldiers were rushing out to help even when we thought there was another gunman out there.  This Army is not broken no matter what the pundits say. Not the Army I saw.
>
> and then they kept me for a long time to come.  oh, and perhaps the most surreal thing, at 1500 (the end of the workday on Thursdays) when the bugle sounded we all came to attention and saluted the flag.  in the middle of it all.

this is what I saw.  it can't have been real.  but this is my small corner of what happened.

The music you are hearing is
"Drinking From My Saucer"
by Michael Combs.

I've never made a fortune,
It's probably too late now.
Oh, but I don't worry about that much,
'Cause I'm happy anyhow.

float

As I go along life's journey,
I'm reaping better than I sowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

float

Ain't got a lot of riches,
Sometimes the going's rough.
But I've got a friend in Jesus,
And that makes me rich enough.

float

I thank God for all His Blessings on me,
And the mercy that He's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

float

Oh sure, I've been thru some storms,
And yes, I'm sure there were times when my,
Well, my Faith must have got a little thin,
But you know what it seemed like?
One day all at once, those dark clouds broke,
And that old sun, she started shinin' again.

float

So Lord, help me not to grumble and complain,
About the tough rows I have hoed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

float

And if I should go on living,
If the way gets steep and rough.
I won't ask for other Blessings,
'Cause I'm already Blessed enough.

float

May I never be too busy,
To help another bear his load.
And I'll keep drinking from my saucer,Lord,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

float

Yes, I'll keep drinkin' from my saucer, Lord,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

My Cup Has Overflowed.

My Dear Friend,
As you well know, we are getting closer to my birthday.
Every year there is a celebration in my honor and I think that this year
the celebration will be repeated.
During this time there are many people shopping for gifts, there are
many radio announcements, TV commercials, and in every part of the world
everyone is talking that my birthday is getting closer and closer.
It is really very nice to know, that at least once a year, some people
think of me.
As you know, the celebration of my birthday began many years ago.
At first people seemed to understand and be thankful of all that I did
for them, but in these times, no one seems to know the reason for
the celebration.
Family and friends get together and have a lot of fun, but they don't
know the meaning of the celebration. I remember that last year there was
a great feast in my honor. The dinner table was full of delicious foods,
pastries, fruits, assorted nuts and chocolates.
The decorations were exquisite and there were many, many beautifully
wrapped gifts.
But, do you want to know something? I wasn't invited.
I was the guest of honor and they didn't remember to send me an
invitation.
The party was for me, but when that great day came, I was left outside,
they closed the door in my face... and I wanted to be with them and
share their table.
In truth, that didn't surprise me because in the last few years all
close their doors to me. Since I wasn't invited, I decided to enter
the party without making any noise. I went in and stood in a corner.
They were all drinking; there were some who were drunk and telling
jokes and laughing at everything. They were having a grand time.
To top it all, this big fat man all dressed in red wearing a
long white beard entered the room yelling Ho-Ho-Ho! He seemed
drunk.
He sat on the sofa and all the children ran to him, saying: "Santa
Claus, Santa Claus" as if the party were in his honor!
At midnight all the people began to hug each other; I extended my
arms waiting for someone to hug me and do you know,
no one hugged me.
Suddenly they all began to share gifts. They opened them one by one
with great expectation. When all had been opened, I looked to see if,
maybe, there was one for me.
What would you feel like if on your birthday everybody shared gifts
and you did not get one?
I then understood that I was unwanted at that party and
quietly left.
Every year it gets worse. People only remember the gifts, the
parties, to eat and drink, and nobody remembers me.
I would like this Christmas that you allow me to enter into your
life.
I would like that you recognize the fact that almost two thousand years
ago I came into this world to give my life for you, on the cross,
to save you.
Today, I only want that you believe this with all your heart.
I want to share something with you.
As many didn't invite me to their party, I will have my own celebration,
a grandiose party that no one has ever imagined - a spectacular party.
I'm still making the final arrangements.
Today I am sending out many invitations and there is an invitation for
you. I want to know if you wish to attend and I will make a
reservation for you and write your name with golden letters in my great
guest book.
Only those on the guest list will be invited to the party.
Those who don't answer the invite, will be left outside. Be prepared
because when all is ready you will be part of my great
party.
See you soon. I Love you!
Jesus

The Giving Trees

Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of
love!
~Hamilton Wright Mabie

I was a single parent of four small children, working at a minimum-wage
job. Money was always tight, but we had a roof over our heads, food on
the table, clothes on our backs and, if not a lot, always enough. My
kids told me that in those days they didn't know we were poor. They just
thought Mom was cheap. I've always been glad about that.
It was Christmas time, and although there wasn't money for a lot of
gifts, we planned to celebrate with church and family, parties and
friends, drives downtown to see the Christmas lights, special dinners,
and by decorating our home.
But the big excitement for the kids was the fun of Christmas shopping at
the mall. They talked and planned for weeks ahead of time, asking each
other and their grandparents what they wanted for Christmas. I dreaded
it. I had saved $120 for presents to be shared by all five of us.
The big day arrived and we started out early. I gave each of the four
kids a twenty-dollar bill and reminded them to look for gifts that cost
about four dollars each. Then everyone scattered. We had two hours to
shop; then we would meet back at the "Santa's workshop" display.
Back in the car driving home, everyone was in high Christmas spirits,
laughing and teasing each other with hints and clues about what they had
bought. My younger daughter, Ginger, who was about eight years old, was
unusually quiet. I noted she had only one small, flat bag with her after
her shopping spree. I could see enough through the plastic bag to tell
that she had bought candy bars -- fifty-cent candy bars! I was so angry.
What did you do with that twenty dollar bill I gave you? I wanted to
yell at her, but I didn't say anything until we got home. I called her
into my bedroom and closed the door, ready to be angry again when I
asked her what she had done with the money. This is what she told me:
"I was looking around, thinking of what to buy, and I stopped to read
the little cards on one of the Salvation Army's 'Giving Trees.' One of
the cards was for a little girl, four years old, and all she wanted for
Christmas was a doll with clothes and a hairbrush. So I took the card
off the tree and bought the doll and the hairbrush for her and took it
to the Salvation Army booth.
"I only had enough money left to buy candy bars for us," Ginger
continued. "But we have so much and she doesn't have anything."
I never felt so rich as I did that day.~~~~~

ROLLO CANDY/ PRETZELS

By rollmaker
A fun and easy candy. A nice crunch with chocolate/carmel, sweet and salty as well.

Ingredients

  • 50 small pretzel twists
  • 50 pieces rollo candy
  • 50 pieces whole pecans or walnuts

Directions

  1. Place pretzel pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper..
  2. Top with one Rollo candy (unwrapped)
  3. Place in a warm oven (250 degrees) to just let the candy melt on top of the pretzel to hold it in place. (about 5-6 minutes)
  4. Remove from oven and place a nut on top.Have to work fast with putting the nuts on top..this does get messy...
  5. Let cool and turn over on the parchment paper to let the treat dry out on the bottom side.. then store.

Personal Notes

I found that there are alot of pretzel twists in a bag..so may need more than one bag of rollo candies.. and pecan halves..

Enjoy.. gw

  A keeper ***** baby moose

A baby moose was in distress in a creek in  Minnesota ..

A man got him out of the creek; tried to find the mother & send him on his way,
but eventually the moose stumbled back into the creek & was rescued again.

The baby moose followed the man home.
The man has only a small cabin so he took the moose to another neighbor, who took these photos. They took the moose the next day to a woman who looks after wild animals & she put it in a pen with a rescued fawn.
