1. FROM THE EDITOR:
Hello Quilting Friends!
I hope you've had a great week filled with quilting fun! If not, there is
always next week, right? :)
In today's newsletter, you'll find a couple of Christmas projects...it's never
too early to get started on those holiday projects!
There are also some new block of the month quilts that are new to me...one of
them is even designed to reduce your fabric stash!
Speaking of stash reduction, I made a nice dent in mine by making a string quilt
this week. I used Bonnie Hunter's pattern, "Basket Weave Strings" (
http://quiltville.com/basketweavestrings.shtml ) as a starting point and added
many more scraps so that it would fit my bed. I love the way it turned out! Of
course, it still needs quilting, but I'm already thinking about my next string
quilt project. :)
I found some nice quilted goodies for you this week and I do hope you find
inspiration for your next quilt project somewhere in the list!
Happy Quilting!
~Kim

1. FROM THE EDITOR:
Hello Quilting Friends!
I hope you've had a great week! My week started out great...I celebrated my
birthday on Monday with a peanut butter (my favorite flavor!) birthday cake .
Everything was going great until Thursday when the servers that host
BlockCentral.com and MyQuiltBlog.com were "attacked". (That's not my word, that
my webhosting company's word.)
Now, who in the world would want to beat up on a couple of quilting sites? I'll
probably never know but at least they did not target my sites
specifically...seems like they knocked out hundreds of websites that day. The
hosting company has been working around the clock ever since to restore each
site one by one, but they haven't gotten to mine yet.
I got a little impatient yesterday and decided to route BlockCentral.com to a
server where I keep a backup of the site. It finally resolved this morning and
I was able to update the backup with the latest content that had been posted on
the ailing server. The only problem is that when you type in BlockCentral.com
it takes you to Knoblin.com. Not really a problem, but I don't want anyone
thinking they've been hijacked or something like that. :)
So, BlockCentral.com is fine right now but MyQuiltBlog.com is still showing a
blank screen. To all the MyQuiltBloggers our there, I feel your pain and I am
trying to brainstorm a "work around this problem" plan. In the meantime, make
some pretty quilts we'll have a quilt show when the site is restored! :)
Since BlockCentral's blog is hosted on MyQuiltBlog.com and it is not available,
I've set up a temporary blog on Blogger. I'll keep you updated by posting
there. The blog is here:
http://blockcentral.blogspot.com/
You can leave comments if you'd like!
Thankfully the website problems didn't affect the newsletter, so I'm happy to
report that there are some super quilt blocks and quilt patterns in today's
newsletter!
Have Fun and Happy Quilting!
~Kim

1. FROM THE EDITOR:
Hello Quilting Friends!
Last week I mentioned my recent rediscovery of English paper piecing My friend
Linda in Texas emailed to let me know that she had placed a collection of 70
antique Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt blocks up for auction on Quiltsy.com.
Oh my...these blocks were exquisitely fussy cut in fabrics from a bygone era! I
instantly snapped them up and the blocks arrived on Friday! Now to figure out a
setting worthy of such an awesome collection!
I plan to photograph each block before I begin sewing them together. I'll let
you know when I get it done so that you can see why I'm so excited! :)
Thanks, Linda!
For our newsletter today, I've listed some really nice quilt block patterns and
quilt patterns for you to enjoy. I hope you enjoy them as much as I and maybe
you'll find inspiration for your next quilt project today...I hope so! :)
Happy Quilting!
