We are a group of individuals opposed to the imposition of arbitrary business taxes on self-employed residents of the city of Oakland. Oakland is taxing gross--not net--and is taxing income whether or not it was earned outside the city or even outside the state. It is imposing back-penalties, although it had never sent out taxation notices of any kind.
