Description

Why should there be another Bible translation group? While there is at least one other translation group that I am aware of; it seems that one's hands are tied from being able to discuss all of the different facets of what goes into Bible translation. In this group, we will be able to discuss hermeneutics, exegesis, theology, linguistics, semantics, textual criticism, word-for-word (essential literal versus thought-for-thought (Dynamic Equivalent) and any other related field that affects the translation process.

HOUSE RULES
• Everyone will act Christ like in their dealings with others. There is nothing worse than someone claiming to be a Christian and then tearing down another.
• However, this is a discussion and debate group specifically for finding the truth of the matter and one should expect their position to be challenged at times, but dealt with in a respectful manner.
• When you post, or respond to a post, you need to sign your post with either your first name or your last, whichever you are comfortable with.
• When responding to another’s post, you should address that person by their name.
• When responding to a post, take some time and cut out whatever you are not responding to and if you are not too busy, please take the time to give some indicators of who is speaking.

REMOVING OR BANNING A MEMBER - WHY?
Certain members can zap the energy from a group and make the experience for others nonproductive. This would include ones that are hostile, people who monopolize conversation, people who are extremely aggressive by the words that they use (insults and belittling), and people who speak down to others. In essence, this would be one, who simply respect himself, but no other. Three strikes and you are out. Gross violation will be one strike. Minor infractions will only amount to a private email from an owner or moderator.

...And should that not force to their minds doubts to the veracity of the doctrine for which such contortions are employed to support it? A long, long time

Re: John 8:58 NET footnote
The theological twist using John 8:58 by otherwise competent scholars in the Biblical languages to support the trinity is an abuse of their academic authority.
