(Please Forward this email to your local lists.)
Many of you may recall several emails I've put out on an upcoming
brewing event. Well, while the date isn't set yet, it will be sometime
in the next 6 months. Here are some more of the details for this unique
event:
Each of the Baronies, and the Shires & Colleges (as a single
collective), will bring all their brewers and vinters together at the
event, with their finest beverages.
In the morning of the event, there will be an internal "Brew Off." Each
of the seven groups will internally compete with themselves to choose
one beverage to represent their group against the other six groups. They
will also choose one judge (not the brewer of the qualifying beverage)
to be a member of the judge's panel for the afternoon brew off between
all the groups.
Winner of the day will take home the Championship to their group!
1) This should be a period likely beverage.
2) This should be done using as few prepared, processed ingredients
(extracts, etc.) as possible.
3) There is no documentation *required* but you should be able to answer
every question about your beverage if you don't have documentation. ;-)
4) Because there is an early and late judging, one should bring several
bottles. =)
For questions, please email me.
Thank you - Rory
There will be a Brewers' Symposium at the upcoming Newcomers' Symposium.
This is not a Guild function, but rather a gathering of brewers within
Calontir to talk and discuss the promotion of our science within the
Kingdom of Calontir and our society. If you are interesting in brewing,
are a brewer, or used to be a brewer, we would encourage you to attend
and join us for a sit down talk about what we can be or should be doing
in Calontir. Other topics will include the discussion of a possible
Brewing Event being put on next year.
If you can make it, please do. Newcomers' Symposium is FREE for everyone.

Nope, I'm not in BFS. I'm part of La Grande Tente, yes, in Iowa.
Sorry about the misunderstanding. When I moved here my MOAS told me
that I should join the brewers group on Yahoo. At the time you were
the only group that I found and I thought that you were who she was
talking about. I've since found out that there is a Calontir Brewers
group but I'm waiting to be accepted. In the meantime I thought I'd
pick up what tips I could. I hope you don't mind.

Thank you! Although I do eventually want to expand into brewing
beer for competition, the Guiness would only be for my own personal
consumption. *well, mine and my friends, of course!* ;0) At one time
I did find a recipe on the web for brewing Guiness. The actual
recipe, in fact, posted by the Guiness brewing Co. It was actually a
bit of a joke. They listed the ingredients/brewing instruction in the
quanities that THEY brew in. So I guess if I had vats the size that
they do...well, I could make Authentic Guiness but who would help me
drink all that....hmmmm. ;0)
So do tell...where can I get these pre-hopped kits? I live in the
Waterloo/Cedar Falls area and I'm only familiar with one place to get
brewing stuff here. It's this guy who has some supplies that he sells
out of his basement. VERY limited selection.

Greetings,
I am with La Grande Tente. I'm still fairly new, having moved into
this kingdom and shire about 7 months ago. Before that I was in
Meridies/Glenn Abhann and before that Atlantia.
I brew mostly small batches. 1 Gallon at a time. I'm afraid I'm
not much of a drinker myself. However, if I could learn how to brew
Guiness at home...WELL, that would be another matter altogether. *LOL*
I'm mostly into brewing for the competition of the thing. (Being
able to give largess and nice gifts to friends is nice, too).

Hello!
Well, I should have known that I'm not the only lurker out here,
<grin> and I know what you mean about providing feedback without
tasting. I get that way (the lurking, not the tasting) on my own
shire's group page...and I'm the Chatelaine! If there's nothing

statment...I want to do a little EDUCATED experimentation. That's why
I'm looking for a mentor. Someone who can walk me through the

each other. Sound intimidating enough? <grin> Anybody willing to take
on a novice brewer as a mentee? Looking forward to hearing from
everybody...Thanks!

Sounds like you are doing pretty good. The group generally goes quiet
for long periods of time until someone has something to say, or
questions to ask. Hard to give feedback about brewing without taste
testing, though. ;)

Hello,
I was wondering if anybody still looks at/posts on this group
site.
I've been lurking for a little while but I'm ready to get started
brewing again. I just went to Queen's Prize and was inspired to brew
something special for entry in a few years. I'm looking for a mentor
to help me further my grasp of brewing. I prefer to brew wines that
are NOT common (ie: grape based). So far I've made a very nice pear
wine, a mead, a dewberry wine and a fig wine. I'm still aging
everything but the pear wine. If anybody's out there...please respond
so I can get a little feedback. Thanks,

There is a place in Neosho, M0 called the Honey House,
