Re: [Berlin Brigade Wall Watchers] Re: (no subject)

I remember the G-2 cars, and the covers for the antennas....They put those
covers over them because the Vopos kept breaking off the original antennas at
Checkpoint Charlie.

I don't know details about the mission cars, but they were full-size Fords newer
than the ones we drove on 2-G-2 missions in '67-'68. The latter were '59 Ford
(Galaxie's?) with 390 engines. They were manned by a driver, car commander and
two observers. They had an interesting radio antenna which the Vopos loved to
try and use to rock the car. When the mike was keyed, the antenna (a galv pot)
gave off a powerful Rf signal which "burned" any hands that touched it.

Capitan" and that two was at Andrews.

were with two Berlin girls and they talked us into taking the S Bahn, we missed
our stop (we were too busy kissing) and started heading into
remote  places, found out we were about a
half a mile out of Berlin, don't remember the name, like Grieneke
or something, we figured for sure we were
going to be taken in by East German Border guards, but there
was no one on the platform when we got off so
we made a fast dash to go back into Berlin, we made it, and
needless to say we never, ever took the S Bahn again, but we did make it to the
Wannsee....WHEW!!!

class for a week or two about uniforms and weapons
of the satelite
armies, it was in the agreement with Russia and the
Allies, so we went into East Berlin in a ford sedan if I
remember right, The Russians did the same in our sectors, we were always looking
for a gathering of people on the street or on a corner which could have
meant an uprising or some type of protest, and
looking to see any Soviet movement or new weapons etc. It was
quite an experience at that age.
