BerBible is simplified freeware that includes the complete ESV Bible at no cost (English Standard Version ©2001 by Good News and Crossway Publishers). The learning curve is all but trivial because only the essentials are implemented:

• lookup a specific verse (e.g. John 3:16)
• find verse(s) with one or more words (super concordance)

Word/phrase searching is extremely fast, intuitive, and very flexible to find what you are looking for. On most computers, it is running immediately after you launch it, and incremental searching is as fast as you can type.

The small Starter Kit download includes the program, ESV with translators' notes, and extensive help and documentation. BerBible also works great on obsolete computers that are too slow for software oriented to Bible scholars. It doesn't assume a high resolution monitor and latest hardware. Its small download size is optimized for people with a slow, unreliable, and/or expensive Internet connection.

• Version for Palm pda devices being developed and expected in early 2007
• Preliminary permission received from Thomas Nelson, Inc. to distribute their NKJV as a free download. Expected in early to mid 2007.
