So, I think it would be a fair assumption that RCA only helped out with the mono
pressings initially, as no later mono RCA pressings with "The Beatles" on the
label or type 2 bracket variety have surfaced that this group know of.
Fred,
Thanks for this posting.
I finally checked my mono Canadian copies and I only have one RCA mono copy
which has the following characteristics:
1. Loose plastic baggie wrapper (no shrink wrap).
2. Parr's logo at bottom right of front cover.
3. No brackets around the word Canad on the label perimeter print.
4. Does not say "The Beatles" under the title Rubber Soul on the label - just
lists the four names.
5. Big RCA pressing ring on label.
6. Does not say MONAUARAL like the Compo pressings.
The RCA jackets have the T 2442 left justified on the back cover at the top
right - this is different from the jackets supplied with the Compo mono
pressings where this number is centered over the HIGH FIDELITY box..
I have the following three Compo variations:
1. No Beatles, just names - no brackets.
2. Beatles with names also - no brackets.
3. Beatles with names also - brackets.
All of the Compo pressings are in tight shrink wrap (not like the RCA Lp I
have).
So I would think that there are just 4 variations (1 RCA and 3 Compo) as you
say.
Gilles Valiquette had asked this question a while ago I think but I could not
remember if I had replied at that time.
By the way my new email address is "piers@..." .

Just saw the advert for this cool TV show which will air this Friday night at 10
PM on CTV. Looks like something worth checking out.
Cheers,
Piers (new email address piers@...)
So far, I have the following label variations of the mono version of Rubber
Soul:
1. Original Compo with no "The Beatles" on the label
2. Original RCA with no "The Beatles" on the label
3. Original Compo with "The Beatles" on the label
4. Type 2 (Canada in brackets) Compo
Can anyone verify if there are original mono RCA's with "The Beatles" on the
label or type 2 (brackets) version RCA's out there? If so, that would mean 6
different versions of the mono Rubber Soul!
Well, I ordered the deluxe version from my indie CD store (CD warehouse) and they had it on their radar...so....I'm not sure but I'm assuming it'll be available everywhere.
Has anyone seen the deluxe version with the bonus 2nd DVD in any Canadian stores?

I realized that the MONO Hey Jude from the remastered box set has a longer
fadeout (7:19 instead of 7:11)
Was this version ever released elsewhere before?
This would add yet another edit of the song after
The mono single
The 20 greatest hits edit and
the pocket disc version!

This seems like a huge ripoff to me. Of all the versions available, I think this
one should be the cheapest. Just look at it. What exactly do you get? Correct me
if I'm wrong, but couldn't you produce this USB item yourself if you had the
remastered CDs? I've already got the stereo and mono boxes, so this is of no
interest to me.

I don't think I have ever heard a definitive number of original Japanese made
mono sets that were produced. They were not numberered. I was lucky enough to
have received one through Amazon.ca through a reserve order.
I have heard reports that there was a second batch of boxed sets produced to
keep up with "unexpected" demand. Whether or not these more recent sets were
produced in Japan as well, I don't know.
The mono box has been on ebay steadily since it's release, Some sellers have
even broken up the box and are selling the discs separately.
The mono box set was not truly limited in the end?

So, this is limited to 30,000 copies....yeah,
right !......just like the mono box set.. I guess "limited" is
Apple's new buzz word.

Re: [BCRG] Remasters on USB
It's a cute little item, but
why such a high price? You'd think it would be less expensive to produce
than 16 separate cd's in a box, yet it's $70 more??? I think I'll be passing
on this one. The mono and stereo boxed sets are all I need.

I know Randy Richardson too. He lives here in Georgetown and I'm pretty sure he grew up here. The last time I saw him, about six weeks ago, I was at the Petro Canada and he knows I collect Beatle (and other) records. He was telling me he was just back from Liverpool where he stayed with Pete Best. He says Pete is a good friend. I never know if it's bullshit or not but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I remember Randy quite well. He used to come down to the London record shows, and I bought a few items from him over the years. He helped organize the BeatleRama at the International Centre in Toronto years ago with Barb Marx, which just happens to be the best Beatles "fest" I have ever been to. It is quite possible that the employee made more than one pressing of his creations, or perhaps he gave it to Randy on consignment, but couldn't get what he was asking for it. The records go up on ebay on November 10, so it should be interesting what they fetch.

The Love Songs disc shown here looks awfully familiar. Quite a few years ago there was a dealer that I used to see at most of the record shows in the Toronto area. I think his name was Randy Richardson. The last time I saw him was at a show here in St. Catharines. At that time he had a copy of Love Songs for sale that had one disc that was gold vinyl with a lot of other colours mixed in. He told me that he had obtained it from someone who worked in the pressing plant and had made this one copy. I don't recall what he was asking for it. I recall this was just after Perry Cox had announced the existence of a pink vinyl pressing of A Hard Day's Night in his 1995 price guide. Either this copy of Love Songs is the same copy shown on The Record Guys site or there is more than one copy out there. Randy mentioned nothing about any other unusual pressings, so if it is the same one, I wonder how it could have been been obtained direct from a former Capitol pressing plant employee, as they claim. I have long wondered what had happened to the record since I had never read anything about its existence. Surely there must be other Canadian record collectors who remember Randy and who also saw this record. Ron

There is also a rumor that remastered LPs will be issued, one LP at a time starting in January. Anybody heard of that too? I doubt they will be canadian pressings, but i would still be curious to hear those new versions on vinyl.
That's true Fed.. i guess i was just hoping for a rarity !
Some USA stereo Magical Mystery Tour CDs were issued with an error on them,
listing "let it be mini documentary"

Anybody has that mistake on their canadian issue?

One last question on the remasters ;)
Is the mono Revolver remaster from the rare XEX 606-1 mix with the different
"tomorrow never knows" or is the usual later xex-606-2 mixes?
