Depression; Social Phobia; Panic Attacks; Obsessions and Compulsions; Are any of these concerns in your life? These disorders may not be the problem; instead, they can be a sign of the presence of Body Dismorphic Disorder. BDD, a disorder affecting up to 2% of the population, causes severe distress for both the victims and their families. Although it is not rare, it is probable that few people know or admit to having this disorder because of lack of knowledge or embarassment. It is characterized by excessive worry over a minimal or imagined physical deformity (e.g. what people consider to be an average nose will cause the victim to worry excessively because he finds it unattractive). This Group is dedicated to helping people with BDD and their loved ones by providing a method of communication among them. Please share your experiences, ask questions, give advice, or any other information you have on BDD.
