So why not bring your decorated canoe to Bayou Bernard in Gulfport on the 19th
and sing carols while looking at the lights?

Subject: FOA 2010 Planning Meeting This Week

On Tuesday, December 15, 2009, the Friends of the Atchafalaya Board
of Directors will hold our last meeting of 2009 at the Bluebonnet
Branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, at 6:30 PM.

Please come out and join us in planning our 2010 agenda and help us
form our plans for Experience Atchafalaya Days 2010. We also have
some proposals for other projects during the year that relate to
Atchafalaya Experiences. Help us figure out what we can handle and
what we should undertake. (Oh yeah, we need your help to make things
happen.)

As an affiliate of the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, we have been
asked to submit nominations for the Governors Conservation Awards and
time is short to get those in, so bring those suggestions if you have
any. Also, suggestions for resolutions for the LWF state convention
in late February are due soon.

Help us get a jump on the new year before Christmas overwhelms
everyone. Join us at the Library. And send in your dues if you
haven't already.

cheers,

She's not lying. She has been planning on doing this for months. I had to cut
wood for her to mount lights on to mount on her canoe... She has crawled up in

There will be some for sale at the New Year's day event or, you can send a check
to Hoyt (or is it Woody?) - they are $1.50 each.

I am sure either Hoyt or Woody will post shortly and let us know who is the
keeper of the decals.

Actually, a closer looker at the weather channel shows more rain.

My paddling partner is still up for it, but I'm calling it off. Dark + cold +
raining + windy weather + small boat + water + four hours on the road to enjoy
it all = not as much fun as it would seem. We bought lights, inverters, santa
hats and bingle jells, but it's so warm and cozy in the house. Think we'll
light a fire and decorate the tree. We also have family visiting this evening
from north MS. Ya'll have fun!

newsletter. If anyone has anything they want to include - this is your last
chance.

Hope you all have a good time - there have been times when I did it and it was
cold and windy but it was still fun and definitely put you in the Christmas
spirit.

Yeah - it's really not much paddling at all so she doesn't have to be too
outdoorsy and it's in the middle of the city.

After looking at the weather report it looks like I may not do it after all. I
don't know. I will probably wait until Saturday to decide.

Wanda and I plan to go. That 70% chance of rain forecast doesn't look good
though. 4 hours on the road for a couple hours paddling in the rain doesn't
appeal much. We may bail out.

Hello all,

If you are interested in paddling Colyell Bay near Port Vincent, La this Sat Dec
12 please contact me for trip details.  martinaellis@...

Description:
Colyell Bay is just east of Port Vincent , LA. in Livingston parish. We will
put in where it crosses Hwy. 16 and probably paddle about a mile down to the
Amite river & then back up Colyell Bay & go as far up as we wish before
returning to the put in. It's a leisurely bayou paddle. There are some gnarled
old cypress trees on the way to the Amite R. It'll be a  2-4 hour paddle
probably. It's not a place that's easy to get out of your boat . There will
probably be some motorboat traffic. Depending on time/desire we might get
something to eat afterward in Port Vincent.
