The original military ones came with a bottle opener on the cross guard on
top of the spine, and with both sharpener and saw attachment in the plastic
scabbard. The bottle opener was first to go. Cadets had one without the saw
and sharpener. The soft covers are often commercial items and not issue as
far as I know. No other country as far as I am aware uses the blade as it is
not the best handling one out there, it has a reputation for breaking and if
you tried to use it after firing it would be a tad warm to say the least.
For a military you want the black scabbard with saw and sharpener for the
early ones at least

Subject: [Bayonet Collecting] Trying to collect the british SA 180 bayo.
Hello
Trying to collect SA180 bayo. is somewhat confusing
Easy to find -- moderately cheap -- from many sources
even in supposedly not yet finished bare metal form
but configuration with or w/o
plastic sheath and accesories looks confused
What about this hard black plastic sheath ?
What about the saw and tools sometimes included ?
What about the soft nylon web green
(and/or possibly camo.) sheath ?
What about a probably-commercial
black soft nylon sheath to make them look more serious ?
Possibly there is web site explaining all this... ?????
In brief -- for collection -- what would
be a good typical complete configuration ?
If you know that -- thank you in advance
