I can’t get to the Kempton Park fair tomorrow so I hope to see many of you next year . I have arranged for a Routemaster bus to do the free shuttle to/from Gatwick so that should be fun (Timetable attached too)

I see from the Times article that Kirin (a brewer) is using bags to advertise its alcohol-free beer to sloshed salarymen riding home in taxis after nightly male-bonding binges. An advertising venture doomed to fail, I predict: if the said salaryman is sloshed enough to use one of Kirin’s bags, he is unlikely to remember the message it carries the following morning.

Nice try, Kirin. But perhaps advertising express flower-delivery services to appease irate spouses would be a better use of scarce bagspace?

I´m sorry for my wrong description, it´s all over 2000 bags. I don´t know how many unique bags are there but I know them are a lot, due to 23 years collecting it.

Sorry to hear that you are giving up baggery. A tragic decision for any collector.

I’ve forwarded it to the barfbags egroup, with over 80 collectors around the world. Hope this brings in some interest. (I don’t buy or sell bags, so am not in the bidding.)

One clarification: do you have “over 2000” unique bags (i.e., not counting duplicates), or a total of over 2000 (counting the duplicates as individual bags)? If the latter, how many unique bags do you have?

You may recall the recent discussion about whether this egroup should allow attachments.

A poll of members on this vital issue attracted huge interest and a closely fought race. Here are the responses to the question “Should the barfbags egroup allow email attachments?”:

“Yes”: 41%

“Don’t know/don’t care”: 8%

“No”: 50%

Turnout was a massive 12 voters, or 15% of the total membership of 81. Feeling disenfranchised? Tough luck.

You can also try copying attachments directly into the body of the message. Or upload them to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/barfbags/files/ and then send a message to the group to alert members where they are.

He should go to flickr and other such sites where signed bags seem to be de rigeur, and then contact the owners of those bags.

Attachments: Our Yahoogroups service is currently set to remove attachments but store them on the Yahoogroups site (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/barfbags/). We chose this setting to prevent huge attachments from clogging members’ inboxes, as well as to prevent viruses from hitching a ride on attachments.

To view attachments, just visit the site and click on the message with the attachments (Gilles’s recent message plus attachments is #1957).

Uploading files: It’s also possible to upload images or files to the site – just visit the address above and click on the Photos or Files link on the left-hand side. You can also create folders or albums to put your files in. You can then send a message to members to tell hem where to find what you have uploaded.

Vote on attachments: Changing the settings to allow email attachments is very easy. One of the moderators (Steve Silberberg and I) will gladly do this if a significant number of members agree (and if huge numbers don’t object vociferously).
