[ NEW ISSUE 1000 RUPIAH BANKNOTE ]

The Bank Indonesia have issued the fifth banknote in the current series begun in 1999. The new 1000 Rupiah note is dated "2000" and portrays Kapitan Pattimura while the reverse carries an illustration of a small fishing boat afloat in a lake with mountain peaks in the background. The note's dominant colour is light blue with a darker purple print used for the portrait and large numeral of "1000". Security features include a watermark of a woman's face which is situated to the far right, a security thread is next to the watermark which includes microtext, a tactile application containing the numeral "1000" is located to the right shoulder of Pattimura and an aligned printed application of the initials of the Bank (BI) is located to the far left in a small framed circle
