Banglar Nari is a progressive discussion forum, focussing on issue related to women- primarily from Bangladesh, but we also welcome similar issues pertaining to South Asian women, in general. We are deeply concerned about women's oppression justified by excuses, such as: culture and tradition, interpretive religious bullyism by men, and ignorance of their equal rights in the eye of the law. While we may have made strides culturally, it seems we still have a long way to go.

Do you have fresh ideas about women's issues? Can you think beyond unverifiable propaganda against women? Can you resist the temptation to forward second-hand opinions by men and women that claim to know unverifiable Divine plans for women? Can you maintain topical focus and cordon off your arguments from personal attacks?

We do not aim to improve women's issue overnight. Rather, we seek to engage men and women to explore their root causes in our societies sharing personal, personal opinions raised on good arguments, as to how we can address and eliminate those causes. Effectively albeit eventually. Unless we can rationally admit the issues exist, it is difficult to conduct intelligent discussion about them.

To help gain a boarder perspective we encourage members to share women's news from around the world: social issues, literary information, arts, etc.

We discourage arguments over general religious issues but, to the extent their relevancy to our focus could be established, their on-point discussions would be welcome. We discourage peddling of opinions based on blind endorsement of traditional notions. We encourage rational analysis, instead.
