They leave their tribes,
and come to this city
those 70 bright minds,
so nice ...so witty...
Stop wondering whats this all about, as this is a Golden opportunity to interact and be with the most needy children of this very same country in which on one side we have a flag landing on moon while on the other side therestill are people who havent stepped into a city..
Coming to the point
70 children - 30 boys , 40 girls, from the remote Tribal settlements ( there are about 110 tribes identified around HD Kote A taluk in Mysore district) In HD Kote who study at the VTCL( Viveka Tribal Center for Learning) Will be in Bangalore From 26th November to 28th November ( Wed , Thurs, fri) on an excursion cum educational visit.
We have been interacting with the school authorities in making a plan and schedule for their visit .
some of the places that the children will visit during the stay are
1. Guided trip inside lalbagh
2. Vishveswariah technical Museum
3. Chitrakala Parishad
4. HAL Museum
5 a ride through one of the tech parks
6 Planetorium
7 ISKCON
8 Cubbon Park
9 GKVK / Wall climbing / visit to some organization
10 Milk Dairy visit
WHAT WE NEED
1. we need volunteers to help guide the children during these days, all or any of the days .
Sharing, interacting, teaching and ofcourse there is a lot of learning from them.
2. The accomodation is not yet finalised . it will be a great help if someone could arrange or suggest some Hall on dormitaryor even a very basic accomodation for the children( in order to eliminate or keep the cost to a minimal)
3. we need sponsors for their food.( need not be money) you may arrange for the food itself.
4. Transportation - Local transportation Charges ( within Bangalore) are very high, if you have know of any source where we can get the transport for the kids ( we can even bear the Fuel and drivers charges) it will be a major saving and help to the kids.
WHY THIS TOUR
the children most of whom are first generation learners are in the verge of getting into a life where they can stand up for their rights, look for better employment options, netter livelyhood( may be in their own trade) or move to the towns and cities.
what has been seen is these children lack the confidence, the motivation and the initiative to get into the outer world,
these kind of initiatives expose them to the outer world trying to give them more ideas , more options, help them become more innovative.
Interacting with educated people who are into diverse fields gives them a greater insight into a lot of things.
the teachers too find it very helpfull when they meet volunteers and share ideas .
WHAT WE MUST NOT MISS
the children are getting trained in music, we get to listen to some of the best folk music of Karnataka
most children belong to the Kuruba tribes and they bring along with them folk music and culture,
You can play games and make real good friends with them. even mentor them if you choose to.
