Description

Hello and welcome to the Back to Basics Beginners Group.

This group was co-founded in April 2002 by 2 members of Alcoholics
Anonymous, one that lives in in the United States, and one in Australia.

They met online in another yahoo group and one shared with the other
about this book.

The Back to Basics book points to the appropriate text in the "Big
Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous and assists readers by guiding them
through the steps as they are laid out in the Big Book.

There are many Back to Basics meetings throughout the continental
United States, as well as others around the world. Several members
from these groups who are familiar with this book are now
participating in this online discussion group.

It was our intention when we began this group to discuss recovery from
alcoholism using the Back to Basics book, as the founding members
have done. One of our moderators is responsible for sending out
readings from the Back to Basics text in daily installments. We
usually cover one step a week (except for Step 4 which takes about two
weeks, as well as Steps 6-8, which are relatively short.) Sharing and
commentary on the material covered is encouraged. In that way, we have
the opportunity to study the Steps together as outlined in the "Big
Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous and the Back To Basics text on a regular
basis.

In addition, we seem to have evolved into a discussion group, sharing
our experience strength and hope with each other, that we may solve
our common problem and help each other to recover from alcoholism.

We have formed a business group to help guide the process in this
group. Since all decisions are based on the group conscience, all
members are encouraged to be a part of this process.

Please join us in our individual and collective journeys into recovery
from alcoholism and share with us your experience strength and hope.
