Description

Arizona Skywarn discussion group covers Sector 2 (Maricopa and Northern Pinal Counties) Sector 6 (Gila and Southern Pinal Counties and all other Sectors around the state.

The Skywarn Spotter Training Classes are complete 2012. Watch http://weather.gov/phoenix/general/spotter/index.php for 2013 Training Class details.

The Sector 2 General Information NET is held every Wednesday night at 8pm on 442.800 + 100.0 on South Mountain. Our back up repeater is 147.080 + 162.2 Thompson Peak. The Sector 6 General Information NET is held every Tuesday night at 8pm on the frequency of 147.200 + 162.2. Skywarn ACTIVATIONS are on these frequencies!

CRITERIA CRITERIA CRITERIA CRITERIA

The following criteria are what spotters should look for when telephoning in their reports or contacting net control. They should always call the responsible Weather Service Office when any of the below are noted:

1. TORNADO (on the ground) or FUNNEL CLOUD (tail not touching the ground)
2. ROTATING WALL CLOUD
3. WIND (estimated or measured at 40 mph or more)
4. MICROBURST (visual confirmation of ‘toe’/ ‘foot’ feature)
5. RAINFALL (1/2 inch (.50) or more in 30 minutes or less)
6. FLOODING (of any kind - streets, running washes, etc.)
7. DAMAGE and/or DEATHS and/or INJURIES due to the weather event (injuries, broken tree limbs, shingles off
roofs, etc.)
8. HAIL (of any size)
9. VISIBILITY (less than 1/2 mile due to dust, sand or fog)
10. SNOWFALL (accumulating or not)
