those 14 volumes must have been very small   Message List

Much to my surprise, I received a telephone call late this morning from
JoAnn of the Arcadia Clinic of Magellan Health Services informing me my
records were ready. I said I would be by to pick them up in half an
hour. I expected, given that I was told my psychiatric record was 14
volumes long, that I would be carrying a bundle of documents the size
of a set of encyclopedias. JoAnn handed me a single photocopy paper
box with loose-leaf documents. I would guess there were about 200 to
300 pages. If they were in 14 volumes, they must have been very small
volumes.

When I got home, I gave them a cursory review. This took me about two
hours. As they had told me, most of this record consisted of clinical
notes and documents from my confinement in the Desert Vista psychiatric
hospital from 21 June to 8 October of 2004. Those documents had
already been released to me, and I was familiar with those. There were
a few documents from my period in gaol and prison. There were also the
documents I really wanted: the record since my release from prison in
January 2006. What I found most peculiar was that the documents were
not in chronological order. I would go through a lot of documents from
2004 and suddenly come across one from 2007.

Of course I cannot be sure the record really is complete and that
nothing has been removed from it, but there was no notice of
withholding that the law requires, so if they are being withheld, the
law is definitely being broken. One document I expected to be in the
record that wasn't was Dr. Ali's report to my probation officer. Ms.
Cathcart, my current probation officer, released a copy of this report
to me, but no copy of it was in the record I received from Magellan
today. Apart from that, I have no idea what documents may have been
expunged from the record without my knowledge.

The new documents I did get to see didn't offer any real surprises.
Dr. Ali, Dr. Schoof, Dr. Pieroczynski and Dr. Fangohr's notes were very
sparse, they all indicated no current signs of psychosis, and they
offered no recommendations for treatment. The treatment team's overall
statement was that I was unaware of my illness and insisted nothing was
wrong with me and that therefore they had no way to treat me. There
was a directive that the clinical intervention team was not to go to my
house without police backup. The report repeated the same lies that
have been told since 2004: that I threatened the President and that I
threatened a former employer.

One document was mildly amusing. My former probation officer, Morgan
Dinovo-Stevenson, had refused to visit me at my home until I was on
some sort of medication. Since she did eventually visit me, and since
I was not prescribed any medication since my release from prison, her
concerns must have been addressed somehow.
