I posted this last night but I don't think it successfully made it through. :)
Original message:
Hi all,
If it helps I can do the following in whichever department needs it (happy to do
pretty much anything including common room duty):
Friday 3 - 4
Saturday - 1.30 - 6.30
Sunday 11 - 2
Monday 11 - 2 and 4.30 onwards (not sure what times the Common Room is open)
Sorry for the late response - I've been madly training people at work so that
the place doesn't fall apart in my absence. :)
I would love to do more but I'm already doing some decorations and registration.
If there is any team that needs help during early mornings (before 7), on the
Tuesday or preparations on Thursday morning I'm happy to help - just let me
know.

and no one will have as great a time - *least* of all the organizers.

coming earlier, meaning more hotel nights, and other forms of support, and most

shifts in lieu of volunteers.

who is already helping out. But if you're not willing to miss at least one or
two sessions or some other activity because you want to hang out and t00b
around, then bluntly stated, you're not earning your shirt or the food or the
internet or the chance for an Infinitus registration, or any of the other
special treats we try to give as reward and thanks.

ever made it to a handful of programming that was not either a meal, something I
was running, or something in which I was an active participant. I know I'm not a
typical fan, but I am fairly typical for the staff in any given year. They
deserve a break and the chance to do stuff, too.

in the past. It's possible to sit at M&G or in the Annex and still catch the
action. When you volunteer for sessions, you attend those sessions, so for
example, you work the ball it's not like you're not there. If you volunteer for
door duty at the keynote, you may sit in, even if you don't have a ticket to
eat.

a little less selfish. Or a little more crafty. Want to hang with your friends?
Great! Get them to volunteer WITH you. It's fun and it's easy and you'll still
get to talk and geek out and everything else. Or when you get there, look at the
Annex  schedule and sign up for things that interest you. Heck, we had one
ficcer sign up to cover the slot in which she's giving her *reading* - that's
okay, too.

lack of willing help during the actual event is hurting us, and sentencing the
people who have already logged 100 hours of labor and love to put in 100 more
during the weekend, and miss large portions of the very thing that is drawing us
all there in the first place.

don't yet know when I'm scheduled. Are you looking for people on Tuesday,
because that is the only day I know I have free.
