The current setting began at the start of season 2 from where on things are evolving somewhat different.

Current situation:
Optimus Primal has seemingly been sent to an early grave as due to Megatron's trickery, he's unable to escape his pod. Regardlessly the heroic Maximal Commander has caused the destruction of the alien superweapon.
However the Maximals do not have the time to mourn their seemingly deceased leader as a wave of energy is heading towards both the Axalon and the Darkside. This energywave will change the course of the Beast Wars...
