Hey all,
Just wanted to share the experience
of my first solo flight with you all.
What a
great feeling and I was shocked at how calm I felt. No
nervousess at all, guess I was really ready.
For those of
you who have done it you know what I mean and for
those who havent keep working at it, it truly is worth
all the effort.
Cheers,
Paul
I am a US flight instructeur and am interested in
finding a position as an instructor in Canada.
I'd
like to find out what is involved in converting US
licenses. If anybody has any info, it would really
help....
Thanks, John
Hi John... this is how I understand the PPL
conversions, as explained by my instructor:

CAN ->
US PPL
- Get FAA "stamp" on CDN PPL

US
-> CAN PPL
- Get Cdn "stamp" on US PPL
- Cdn
radio permit
- Cdn Medical

Not sure what's
involved with a CFI rating though.
Here in TO, the noise is getting louder. Heard an
awful racket just now over the city, but couldn't see
the plane. Airshow is this weekend, not sure if I can
make it, but working downtown I'll probably see the
odd Snowbird flying overhead this week.
Probably not the best example... I waited too
long (3-4 months). Wrote the PPL after the flight
test. Wouldn't recommend it!!
Finish the ground
school, write the test, get it over with.
I failed the
Meteorology section the first time (you are alowed to fail 2
sections without failing the test).
...J
J,
I take it that you haveto go back at a later date and rewrite the failed
section(s)? What is the fee for writing the test?
Thanks again,
Paul
Paul... To rewrite a section, you have to wait a
minimum of 7 days. The fees (quoting from memory)
were:

$105 for the test
$35 per section
(rewrite)

Your instructor should be able to confirm the current
rates.
P,

I would agree, do it right away. Its been a while, but I believe that
I wrote within a week of completing ground school. It certainly was not
more
than one week after.

James
The Concorde should be in Toronto this weekend. It will arrive sometime
Saturday and depart 12:40 on Sunday the 5th. It will also arrive on the 7th and
depart the 8th at 12:40.
Hi everyone:

If you get a chance check out
the YQM airport this
weekend. With all the
leaders from the Francophone summit here there is a big
variety of aircraft landing and parking there. I've seen
a DC8, 707's, 727, a 747, I think every kind of
Airbus, and a few other small ones. Not much space on the
ramp with them parking there.
I'll be flying up towards Parry Sound tomorrow
hunting for a friends cottage. They'll be
sunning/drinking on the dock while I do a flyby. The directions?
"Follow the powerlines till they meet a road (Hwy69?) and
train tracks." lol... nice cottage!
Anyone in that
area? I may stop at Georgian Bay for a bio-break. ;)
www.airport.bizhosting.com
airlinejobs@...

Have you ever
looked up at a plane and dreamed about
working with them up close? Have you ever stopped at the
airport just to watch the planes? Only to once again have
that sign which reads "Authorized Persons Only "
hanging in you're way? Well with our help YOU! can work
on the other side of that fence!!

Well one of the easyest things to try is
1-800-555-1212 as for the number for Transport Canada. If they
have a toll free number you will find it there, I
don't have enough time at the moment to lookup the
actualy URL but Start at the Goverment of Canada Web
Site. http://www.gc.ca/ I'll try to
find the actual
link and put it up in the links.

Sorry its not
there already.

Craig
Hey everyone,

I'm glad to be part of a
group with some Canadian content for a change. I am
currently working on my commercial license at Mitchinson's
Flying Service in Saskatoon (~130 hours) and recently
got my float endorsement out in Nothwestern Ontario
this summer. The bush flying was awesome and I really
learned alot considering only 14 hours of training. I'm
also in my 4th year of a Mechanical Engineering degree
at the U of S so my training goes a little slow
during the school months.

As far as the flying
scene in Saskatchewan goes...
I think Saskatoon
(YXE) is perfect for training since it involves some
heavy airline traffic but not enough to make training
too stressful. I think Regina is similar. You still
get good practice communicating with the tower (Class
D control zone) without the hassle of an overly
busy airport.
I'm especially interested to hear
from commercial pilots working in the industry and
what career paths they took, how many hours before
each step etc.
Hello friends,
I am a newly licensed pilot and I am in search of people to
fly with and share in the costs of rental aircraft. If interested, email me
Hey majorsax...
I'm also at the Brampton FC. If you're planning any longish
cross country trips, let me know. I'll go along regardless of the PIC
hours.
Fly Safe! ...J
have you tried Provincal in Halifax or St. John's lately they haved moved some
people up from their dispatch to right seat on their Navijo just a few weeks
ago.
