The Autistic Advocacy discussion group was conceived as a companion for a web site by the same name. Membership is open to parents, professionals, autistics, or others that wish to celebrate the wonders of the autism spectrum.

If you wish to cure your autistic child, follow the DAN protocols, or are a big fan of Bernie Rimland, this may not be the group for you. But if you would like a place to discuss the challenges of raising an autistic or AS child without the emphasis on forcing normality, this may be what you are looking for.

Note: This is a fairly autistic-centric list. There are many autistic members here, and we're quite active. Normal people are encouraged to join, but don't be surprised if the roles are reversed a bit. Once you get past our bluntness and matter-of-fact manner of stating our views, you'll see that this is an NT and parent-friendly place, so long as you don't want to make us normal. Welcome!
