This group is for dads who want to be involved in their children's lives as much as possible.
Suggestions for topics include: how to bond early on, such as through play and baby wearing; how making life easier for mom - helping her breastfeed, giving her breaks - makes life easier (and better) for children; and how our jobs fit into the equation.
While many dads are becoming more active parents, there is always room for growth. Moms are much more likely to talk to each other about and be well-read in all aspects of parenting, and it's time for dads to be in on the discussion.
The quality of the relationships we have with our partners is crucial towards having good relationships with our children. While this group is not to be used to vent about our significant others, such constructive topics might include how to deal with feeling ignored in important parenting decisions, and how we should feel about sleeping arrangements that separate us from our partners.
My ultimate goal is for dads to help educate each other about active parenting. This means knowing what's going on with our children as well as our partners. And by talking with other dads, hopefully, we will feel more comfortable with talking to our partners. This way, we can make joint decisions and be equally important in our children's lives.
