Description

This group is dedicated to discussion of the Universal Atomic 4, a 30-hp, four-cylinder, gas-fuel, inboard auxiliary engine, typically found in recreational sail boats.

We gladly share the knowledge and experience we've gained from operating, maintaining, fixing, and rebuilding these engines.  Sometimes you can even get two of us to agree on something.

I don't see much chance that it will be what you want when you're done. When a prop shop cuts one down, they shape and balance it on a lathe - not easy to get

You're prop is definitely too large if your A4 is a direct drive. A 3 blade should be 2-3 inches less diameter and have a pitch of about 6-7. Why don't you

I have a 3 blade 13 inch prop (indeterminate pitch) and can only get about 1500 rpm at max rpm which is about 4.5 knots. I have had a hankering to go for one

The disributer and starter are different. As for the impeller housing, depends on how old the engine is and what water pump it had. When you say
