As you may know, the birth of the nation of Israel is highly significant in terms of the Jacob's Wheel World Calendar system. (See: Background Information below.)

In the Jacob's Wheel system the State of Israel is said to especially and strongly exemplify the astrological formula Mercury-Pisces.

This basic formula is, however, part of a more complex configuration of energies that also consists of the archetypes: Taurus and Saturn. (See below.)

In the Jacob's Wheel system, the archetype in the midst of the 'pyramid' (or triangle) is of central importance. The archetype at the summit of the 'pyramid' (in this case Pisces) is directly linked to the central archetype and represents the primary means for bringing the central archetype into manifestation.

The two archetypes that form the base of the pyramid are foundational and supplemental, and dynamically linked to the 'cap-stone' archetype.

Israel does not, in its astrological birth-chart, have natal Mercury in Pisces, but it does have an exact natal Neptune trine Mercury aspect operating between the 11th degrees of Libra and Gemini. This is a significant synchronicity with the Jacob's Wheel correspondence because Neptune rules Pisces.

There are many ways we can interpret Israel's birth pyramid because even though archetypes are, by their very nature, simple, they manifest in a myriad of forms within the planes of physical manifestation.

For example, Saturn and Taurus can be interpreted as Israel's desire to establish clear and secure borders (Saturn = 'borders') around its Holy Land (Taurus = 'real estate') and the accompanying frustration (also associated with Saturn) experienced. This Saturn-Taurus configuration then becomes a foundation for the Pisces archetype that we can interpret as the Shekinah (Pisces) descending to once again inhabit the restored Holy Temple within the Land of Israel.

The central Mercury archetype represents (among many other things) the Hebrew/Jewish 'Tradition' that has been handed down (communicated) throughout the ages, and that is most exemplified as the 'Word of YHVH', or the Tanach (i.e. Torah, or Pentateuch).

The special link between Mercury and Pisces (i.e. between the centre of the pyramid and the 'cap-stone' archetype) represents the direct line of mystical communication that Israel has established between itself and YHVH (and the Shekinah). But it can also be interpreted as the nebulous uncertainty and confusion that surrounds the history of the Hebrews from ancient times to the present day. The effort to make concrete and tangible (i.e. precisely documented and verifiable), the powerful spiritual relationship that the Jewish people have forged with the Creator (and the Great Mother principle) has understandably proven to be difficult. Indeed, sometimes, the link between Mercury and Pisces can (due to frustration, etc) lead to 'received' myths and legends (and other products of the spiritual intuition) being mistakenly converted by the rational mind into 'cold hard facts'. But this process of creating illusions is not necessary because the reality of Israel's divine spiritual link to the Creator exists incontrovertibly within the soul of the nation of Israel, and 'hard evidence' of that fact is not required (except through the developed faculty of 'faith', or 'inner knowing').

The esoteric knowledge that has been inherited, and that is continuously being received by the nation of Israel is a very positive expression of the Mercury-Pisces formula. It is through the intuitively received metaphysical system(s) of the Kabbalah that the 'third Temple' of YHVH is being built. It does not consist of bricks and mortar, but is instead built within the individual and collective psyche of Israel. The Shekinah is everyday descending to inhabit the Holy Place prepared within the receptive consciousness of the people of Israel. This is the esoteric meaning of the Coming of the Jewish Messiah that has been prophesied, and it is not dependent on the building of a physical Temple on the Mount as some literalists within the Jewish faith believe.

Today (2009) there is an incredible wealth of kabbalistic knowledge (of varying levels of complexity) being produced by a diverse multitude of authors within the kabbalistic community. This knowledge appeals to the hearts and minds of those souls who belong to the collective Soul that is called 'Israel' and draws them into the sacred Temple of YHVH (i.e. within themselves). This is not a geographical event, but rather it is a psycho-spiritual event, and it is not destined to happen at a specific prophesied time in the future, but rather it is happening now.

Here are some interesting astrological interpretations for the combination of Mercury and Pisces (i.e. and that therefore in some respects describe the nature of the nation of Israel)...

Traditional astrology considers Mercury in Pisces to be a difficult placement. The reason is that Mercury is primarily concerned with data and details. Watery  Pisces, however, is about instincts and feelings. It is interested in fusion and the big picture, which can make Mercury's grasp of facts a little fuzzy.

Communication is more impressionistic when Mercury is in Pisces. Feelings are paramount, which can lead to confusion when one is looking for precision. Finding the words to express the vastness of Pisces can be challenging, as well. Using symbols, images, art and music can be good ways to capture these big concepts that go beyond the boundaries of ordinary language.

This can be a good time to move outside the limits of ordinary perception and speech. Intuition and imagination can work more easily at this time. The censoring aspects of the mind are looser, allowing a wider, if less precise, picture of reality to emerge.

Extra care may be required to keep normal communication on track, since we all may be hearing and seeing in less objective ways. This cycle was very significant because it was the World's 147-year 'Israel' cycle--so-called because it is thought to correspond with the biblical Jacob's 'struggle with an angel' (i.e. an ordeal of initiation) and his subsequent acquisition of the new name Israel. (Notice that both World Wars occurred during this cycle.) The Hebrew word 'Israel' is actually spelled out in the Hebrew letter version of the Mercury mandala. [See attached.]

It is appropriate therefore that the creation of the State of Israel (on 14th May, 1948) occurred during the World's 147-year 'Israel' cycle, but it is doubly appropriate, and quite an extraordinary synchronicity, that the creation of the State of Israel occurred in the 7-year 'Israel' phase of the 147-year 'Israel' cycle. The 7-year 'Israel' phase covered the period 6th Sept. 1945 to 6th Sept. 1952. The 'Israel phase' is the phase that occupies the same relative position in the minor cycle as the Israel cycle has in the master cycle. This necessarily implies that the World was also undergoing the Mercury/Israel 7-year cycle during that period.
