The Associated Ohio Sportsmen, Inc. is a non-profit Ohio outdoors club of more than 30 Ohio residents and their families who enjoy camping, fishing, and the natural beauty and wildlife of Ontario Canada's Near North at rustic Camp Mitawanga near Loring, Ontario. Mitawanga is surrounded by thousands of acres of Crown Land (Canadian Government owned), boat accessible only, and is located on a secluded area of Lake Memesagamesing, a clear deep lake with 144 miles of shoreline located in the heart of the Canadian Shield. Members regularly catch Walleye (Pickerel), SM Bass, N. Pike, Whitefish, and Lake Trout on the "Sag" and also fish smaller nearby "outpost lakes" for LM Bass, Jumbo Yellow Perch, and Northern Pike. Our Camp is an hour from the legendary Muskie fisheries of the French River, Georgian Bay, Lake Nippissing, and Restoule/Stormy Lake. Wildlife in the area include Black Bear, Lynx, Timber Wolf, Porcupine,Pine Marten, Fisher, Beaver, Loon, Moose, and Deer. Regular Membership to A.O.S. is open only to Ohio residents and the majority of our members live in northeastern Ohio (Portage, Summit, Stark, Geauga Counties). Regular Membership is very affordable and rewarding for those who would enjoy our peaceful Camp and contribute to our Club. In addition to Camp Mitawnga, A.O.S. holds annual local events for our members and families including the Annual Meeting in November and a Spring picnic. We are an extremely unique family oriented Ohio Fishing Club that resulted when five now deceased local OH sportsmen realized in the 1950's that they could not afford to own their Canada fishing Camp. To learn more about A.O.S. or to receive information about becoming a Member please inquire once access to our Yahoo Groups site has been approved. Thank you for visiting with us!
