Come and join the banana split!

The asian-australian_discuss egroup is a space for Asian Australians interested in issues relevant to Asian Australians - issues such as cultural exchange, ethnic identity and racial experience but beyond this scope as well.

"Banana" is a term usually used in a derogatory fashion to accuse someone of 'losing their (Asian) culture', of being yellow on the outside and white on the inside. We want to recycle the term and open up discussion about these issues of identity and racial politics, culture and belonging.

The tone of the group is chatty and casual, with some occasional academic flare-ups...
