We are an action group for basic education in India. Established in 1991, we have 35 chapters in the US, 2 in Europe, 1 in Australia, and 9 in India. We are involved in raising awareness about the need for education in India as well as funding educational programs for the underprivileged children in India.
We have supported more than 600 projects across India. This year we are supporting about 150 projects. These range from formal education to non-formal education to vocational training. And as we realize the importance of the community in education, we are also beginning to focus on community development.
Asha for Education aims to foster a spirit of volunteerism. Our volunteers come from all walks of life-students, professionals, and full-time activists. Our volunteers actively interact with the projects- monitoring and evaluating them, interconnecting them, learning from them and helping them reach out to many more children.
We need YOU to reach out to as many children as possible. You can reach out in many ways:
Volunteer: Come to our meetings held every first and third Sunday of the month at Lalbagh. We meet near the Glass House.
Donate: All donations are tax deductible under Section 80 G to the extent permissible by the law.
Support a child or a project: Asha-Stars program allows you to take responsibility of a project with few other individuals. Asha Support-a-child program allows you to support a child’s expenses through a monthly contribution.
Buy our merchandise: Support us by buying our merchandise.
