1. Simple Pics Saved to Your Phone:
This one is easy very basic. Many of you do a form of this now by having an art example on your business card. Having a pic on your phone is just a way to always have your latest or most eye-catching work on hand, ready to make a great first impression.
This eliminates the need for bringing laptops and portfolios to events where carrying them may be awkward.
2. Mobile Website Gallery:
Most cell phones today are "smart phones", enabled to effortlessly access links and the web.
Creating a version of your web gallery with a site layout formatted to especially accommodate cell phones will allow you actually send text messages that include the link to your mobile website. They don't have to wait to get in front of a computer to see your work. You can shoot them a text and they'll see your web gallery right away.
3. Mobile Text Marketing:
Get more mileage out of your mobile website gallery by acquiring a keyword and "shortcode" (number used to dial in a mobile promo). There are hundreds of companies now that provide text marketing packages. You choose a keyword (let's say "ART") and you promote it, along with the number to dial. People are encouraged to text you whether to get a discount on art you sell them or to even enter a contest you've launched.
Example: You post a flyer about an upcoming exhibit. The flyer says "text `ART' at 82672 (number to dial) "and receive a free gift certificate".
They get a text message back with the discount, and also a link to your mobile website gallery. What's even better, you get the cell phone number of the person that texted the promo.
