The theme for the November Challenge was "Ornaments". It was a fun challenge with some mighty cute entries. Our First Place winner is Jackie Freiburger. Her piece is entitled "First Snowfall". Jackie tells us, "This was made with Specrum 96 because I wanted that swirling effect - like the snow coming down. The snowflakes are painted on with Hues 2 Fuse. This had been taking shape in my mind since summer - who thinks snow in summer??? - and it was actually my second attempt that came out the way I wanted. It is 16" tall and just fit in my kiln."
Our Second Place winner is Judy Butler. Her piece is entitled "Penguin and Baby". Judy says, "I made the penguin parent originally. I was thinking he could be holding something – a sign, a wreath, hmmmm? After much pondering I realized the mini penguins that I was also making would be the perfect addition."
Our Third Place winner is Margo Crane, with her piece, "Teddy Hanging His Stocking". Margo says, "Teddy measures 7" long. He is made out of terra cotta-colored glass and sprinkled with clear dichro chips. I made the stocking separately and attached with a jump ring, so it would dangle freely. "
