This week's meet, Wednesday, May 4th, will be held on Elemendorf Airforce Base.
It is a traditional format meet. We're sorry, but the deadline (by Elmendorf
security) for signing up for this meet has passed (April 17), but you can still
attend if you know someone in the military who will sponsor you.
For those on the submitted access list or with base access, once through the
gate, proceed ahead at 2nd light, turn right onto Vandenberg Ave. Proceed north
(runways on left). Follow orienteering orange/white controls north and west
around the airfield, at "Fish and Triangle Lakes" and fire-sign intersection,
split right onto gravel, proceed to start. Phone 244-7700 will be monitored if
you have any problems.
Meet Director Training this Thursday:
Thursday, May 5th 6-9PM
BP Energy Center
6 - 7 PM - The process of putting on an orienteering meet
7 - 9 PM - OCAD software instruction
Moose's Tooth pizza will be served.
This session is strongly recommended (I'm resisting the urge to say 'mandatory')
for first-time meet directors. It will also be useful for anyone interested in
putting on a meet in the future. If you are a veteran meet director and only
want an OCAD refresher, you are welcome to show up at 7 (but I can't guarantee
there will still be pizza left!).
There will be two additional meet director training session this spring/early
summer. One on how to design good courses, and the other on vetting your
courses using a GPS and other methods. Those sessions will be useful for new
and veteran meet directors alike. Details on those two session will be coming
soon.
Please RSVP to me if you plan on attending this Thursday, so I know how much
pizza to get. coryhsmith@...
Thanks,
Cory
