'Ara'- a latin word meaning 'altar' or 'sanctuary'.

'Ara' is a monthly club-like event run by DJ & Kountess Krow (aka Kolyn & Dudie Amor). It's held in Sacred Trinity on Chapel Street, close to Manchester city centre. The church was founded in 1635 and largely rebuilt in 1752- a unique setting for an alternative evening...

Music includes a mixture of the best in goth, metal, alternative 80's, punk and EBM, brought to you by DJ Krow and a selection of guest DJs. There's also usually a second dancefloor open upstairs in 'The Belfry' where the tunes will be focusing on all things cyber.

If you don't feel like dancing then you can watch classic films, visit 'Pandora's Box' (a place to buy and sell your unwanted gothic goodies), or simply chat 'n' chill. Special events in the past have included live music, a fashion show, poetry readings and an art exhibition.

'Ara' takes place on the fourth Friday of the month - 9pm till 2am
Entry is £5
Bring your own alcohol (we'll provide soft drinks and snacks)
Dress code is anything not mainstream i.e. goth, metal, cyber, fetish, costume, period, etc.

'Ara' and 'Sanctimonia' both aim to be safe havens where you can be yourself, express yourself and enjoy yourself. To facilitate this, there are some 'House Rules' that we ask you to abide by. We try to be approachable and friendly so come and say 'hello'- we only bite in private... Music requests are welcome and might even get played if we're in a good mood!
