ABOUT US

ANUPURAM is a place situated about 70 kms southwest of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, close to the world-famous nuclear establishments at Kalpakkam and 13 kms south of the World Heritage Centre at Mammallapuram. Department of Atomic Energy has set up its sprawling township in this relatively sleepy village six years ago. The population and popularity of Anupuram are on the increase now and it is bound to increase leaps and bounds in future with the many new nuclear energy programmes on the anvil at Kalpakkam. A strong desire was voiced by the sizeable population of worshippers for a temple in the township or its adjoining areas. Thus the idea of building an Ayyappan Temple in Anupuram was mooted. Sri Vidhyadhiraja Service society, a registered charitable organization (Reg. No.68/2006) working at the Atomic Energy Townships of Kalpakkam and Anupuram, spearheaded the construction and consecration of the temple with active support and cooperation from the public. The temple is situated adjacent to Anupuram Atomic Energy Township located 23 kms east of Chengelpet along the Chengelpet-Kalpakkam road. Presently the temple affairs are being managed by a committee comprising of members from all sections of people living around the temple.
