WE ARE MORE THAN WHAT WE CONSUME!
I've created this group because increasingly it seems, I've felt that deep down inside something is wrong with our society; terribly wrong, but so hard to place a finger on... We have our 500 channels of T.V., limitless communication and information at our fingertips via the internet, new cars, the newest clothes; and on and on.
But how many of us are really, truly happy, with all this
material prosperity.
Who doesn't feel that most products never really measure
up to the hype, the marketing campaign, and one's own
anticipation; the consumer is always wanting more: craving
the next product like an addiction.
Who doesn't feel some collective guilt over our rampant
destruction of every other lifeform on this beautiful
planet, in order to satisfy our cravings, and ensure our material comfort for a little bit longer?
Who has felt that as our level of wealth is on the rise, our spiritual and personal lives are at the brink of disaster...
Who doesn't lie awake at night and wonder where this
consumer dream is heading, and who is in control..

I feel that inside each of us there is a growing
sense that we can not continue this course without facing
the consequences further down the road; we can not
continue to trade our future and our childrens future for
immediate material comfort...I know that I'm also guilty of
this...I also feel that I can not remain silent any longer.
I'm as guilty though complacent inaction as I am through
destructive action.

I've created this forum to give people a place to discuss and further the anti-consumerism and anti-globalism movements. I'm hoping that if we can open some honest discussion on the subject we can all go away from this experience and make amazing positive changes in our society.
Remember, as individuals we are weak, but together we can change the world for the better!
